  • Would you happen to know which AEM pre filter fits this CAI?

  • @TheOJwithPULP no clue.. i just know I've been running it for like 2 years.. i figure any 8 to 10 inch spectre filter would do the job. in all honesty a short ram intake is way easier, and much more convenient for a daily driver, i dread puddles and heavy rain.

  • dose any one know how to put a cold air intake in a 88 celica gt please tell me if u know i ask every one and no one even replies

  • @7474havik sorry man I'm not very familiar with the 4th gen celica's infact i would be way more in tune with a 90's 5sfe model. but not anything before that, sorry

  • awesome instructions dude, how many miles are on the GT? I hope yournot having the Oil burning problem these Gt's have

  • @DxBOY617 no no oil problems yet thank god, and mine has had a motor swap the current motor is somewhere in the 120-30,000 mile range.

  • @DxBOY617 My engine is broken because of the oil problem. 500 miles before the next scheduled tune-up. The car burnt 8 quarters of oil in less than 3000 miles. Check your oil level weekly guys if you have more than 100K miles.

  • how much hp gain

  • @Telekine5i5 .. eehhh maybe like 6-10 hp nothing dramatic, plus the kazuma exhaust prolly laying down another 10 hp rated to do up to 20 hp, but that may be 20 for a 6 speed gts.

  • so i manage to install it i dint know that 2 hose were connected to the blue wire

  • Thanks but I bought mine from k2motors.com

  • I was wondering how many hoses did u connect because I bout a intake for celica and I could only connect one what do I do with the rest

  • @jordy100s .. if it wasnt K&N or AEM or INJEN or some sort of name brand that would adequate pieces or directions, probably not a safe investment.

  • how much u get your celica for?

  • cant you just put the mushroom part of the intake to the stock hose?.. or you have to remove everything ><

  • @shandb9 I'm assuming you mean the air filter, as far as the mushroom reference goes, and no. you cant do that, simply because your MAF (mass air flow) sensor would be dangling in the engine bay, as well as all the vaccumm hoses would be open. and Theres a really good chance your engine wouldnt start if you didnt take proper steps to the installation. If anything.. Do not shortchange yourself.

  • @MovementofTension ohhh ok thank you feww saved my life there :) thanks :))

  • Correct as stated before, You dont use the blue one. At 6:34 you will see the blue connector hanging useless near the Evap bracket.

However you DO USE BOTH black connectors, One goes on the EVAP the other snaps into the device towards the lower section of the Pipe. At 7:18, I have it in my hand.

  • lol.....it was the blue plug that gave me the cel. as soon as i disconnected it, it was fine. is it correct that you should have one blue and black plug disconnected? i have one black plug connected, and one black plug disconnected. didnt see in video what u did with 2nd black plug. thanks for your replies

  • were does the blue plug connect to

  • @endproductions15 It doesnt go anywhere, I just zip-tied mine up away from everything. Essentially, its extra parts

  • wish the video wasn't so choppy. really needed to verify that I hooked mine up correctly. good vid though

  • @MrSgillen102 As long as you dont have CEL. you did it right. Good luck with modding. theres a link to the AEM instructions.. If a video wont help you can always read em

  • also did this in 45min... but i work at a Toyota dealership so i'm used to working on toyota's and bought my AEM kit new, so i had all the bits n pieces :-p little hint, you don't wanna start or run your engine whith wrenches on top of it... if they slide to the side and catch between the belt you got a big problem...

  • @svendewulf Meh, I did this a year ago.. still running it in the same car. Still taking it through heavy rain and what not, Simple bolt on. But If I did it again, I'd just put a short ram in. Save time, and The GT isnt known for its top end anyway, which CAI helps with.

  • @MovementofTension short ram will get hot air from the engine bay, which in term has less oxigen density, basicly reducing the effective power, but i don't think it'll be that much tough. with a huge ass pipe like that i wouldn't be afraid of hydrolock unless you go swimming with it... the top end problem is a fundamental failure of the VVT-i system... as it makes the valves open earlier, they also close earlier... hence why they made VVTL-i, and later Dual VVT-i and Valvematic...

  • @svendewulf Interesting, So as it stands Cold air intakes support top end yet both of our engines fundamentally have problems with producing this. Yet you knew, but still opted to use a Cold air intake.

Personally, with you buying new, as well as being armed with this knowledge, it really seems like you're bent on wasting your time and money. I purchased mine used, for 100 bucks, and this is the first bolt on I had ever installed. Like I said I would have gone with short ram next time.

  • @MovementofTension yeah, i just have nothing to do with my money :-p and it does increase fuel efficiency a little... it costed me around 240$... just like to alter my car...

  • hey i installed mine yesterday and i couldn't find the vsv(not the evap) that mounts on to the pipe (next to where you put the hose of that same vsv) i guess european celica's don't have those... car runs fine and no check engine light so i'm guessing it can't do much harm. also, the slots in the fenderguard just in front of the wheel are angled on mine, so water can't splash trough but air can flow easily... :-p

  • @MovementofTension Thanks alot for info.

  • Just bought one of these intakes, but now i"m worried about the waterlocking. Any problems with yours?

  • @fox749 well lets put it this way.. The area I live in gets a good percentage of rain. I installed this almost a year ago.. and My car still runs fine. I mean, If you are truly worried.. get an AEM bypass valve. But long story short.. no problems.

  • 1. Over all a great job. but

    2. Did you paint your ecu hose blue? jw

    3. Might have been easier to do if you took the entire fender off (i know its even more of a bitch).

  • I see you have some holes in the fender guard. I don't understand how that doesn't throw water on the filter.

  • @USGiorgi You can be all paranoid by a splash here or there, but the fact is you'd have to submerge your Air filter before you experience hydrolock. I avoid puddles and dont directly spray it at the car wash. Precautions can be taken also there is a bypass valve. But if your careful you dont have to waster your money on it.

  • @USGiorgi dont get an intake like this. i had the injen system very similar to this aem and yes it does collect water, went i went to pull it off my car water literally poured out of the tube. im just fine with a short ram and keep my motor safe :)

  • @jdm0avy

When I had my WRX, I bought a CAI filter which also went into the fender. I cut the pipe and made it into a short ram because my friends WRX waterlocked the engine while going through a small puddle after a rainstorm.

  • @USGiorgi you made the right decision sir =)

  • Man I guess I should watch this a few times and redo my Injen Air Intake, guy I bought my GT from didn't do a few of the steps you did.

  • @leonhart423 AS long as your Check Engine light doesnt come on, and your car seems to run fine.. I wouldnt sweat it too much. I just did everything the AEM manual said to do.

  • does this also go for the short ram intake?

  • @ChronicFilming No lol, the SRI is WAY!!!!!! EASIER. lol I mean.. you might have to follow some minimal similiarities, but a SRI is Way easier of an install.

  • would this be the same steps to put in a 90 celica?

  • Good video! thankx man, i'm going to install my tomorow!

  • @rudeboiz911 Just trying to help man. Thanks
