hi they do that here and also put rocks on the tracks too from the ballast along the tracks. i see it all the time when out railfanning in mississippi, MY question is should i report it to the PD or the railroad? thanks
That "high area" is called the flange. I always thought the full width of the wheel touched the rail because there are boat loads of pictures on RailPicturesDotNet of the full width of the top of the rails being worn down from wheel slippage and every day use and such.
I have some excellent news to report. I have never smashed a penny on the tracks!!!!!!!
Clearly putting a penny on a track is now an act of terrorism.Especially a soft metal like copper. .
(Employing undocumented workers to tend vines is really nothing to worry about) .
