  • Oh them melody, melody. A lost talent.

  • harmony heaven

  • kill me.

  • What is that lady doing with her feet????

  • @Keatrix25 That was a dance move of the time. Came from Go-go dancing, I believe, but not certain on that point. The one dancing is "Mama Cass".

  • Denny Doherty was at my age! So sexy!

  • Great melody.

  • I was in the Army when this song was out. I loved the Mamas and the Papas..Great group. Loved Mama Cass's voice alot!!

  • Out standing vocals from Denny at the begenning of the song ,,,he is great

  • the chick in the red looks like adeal

  • Mo Monday's BONES WHEELS.

  • The name of the group remind me of the song "Tradition" from Fiddler on the Roof.

  • 9 anos teia cuando escuchaba esta bella cancion en mi pais chile, I' LOVE. SORRY MY INGLISH IS NOT GOOD.

  • Love it.

  • great song

  • -------Super 60's Classic ! American sound a it's best ! kudos poster

  • You simply can't trust Mr. Monday. He's a compromised narrator. His smile is quite literally upside down. Too blue for his own good. Too many hues of blue coconspired in the ultimate saturation of starkest black and sable.

  • I love how some people and especially the music industry think that today's music is an evolution of music itself without ever considering that it might be the opposite. As if things are always getting better and never worse. I find that the music industry has been in a slump for at least the past15 years. Some good artists came along, but the overall music industry is pretty weak. I'll stick with music from the mid 90s and backward.

  • @cboncklis Something happened to music around 10 or 15 years ago that drastically changed what the definition of music is. Today's melodies are arraigned differently or something and there is no love of harmony anymore. Give me a nice acrobatic melody sung by a good singer backed up by harmonic vocals, violins and french horns any day. And that hideous so called rap music? Good God almighty....whew! p.s. oh yeah and bring back the nice clean decent lyrics too.

  • @Appleholic1 Excellent comment, totally agree w/ lack of well-arranged melodies & harmonic vocals in today's music. I've liked the M&P since a wee child...as w/ the case of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, these groups showed off the beauty of group harmonies. Much music today sounds very canned & manufactured. You can't manufacture these kind of vocals. Think about the use of auto-tune these days! Horror.

  • @Appleholic1 - Hi Appleholic, I couldn't agree more. I guess the trouble is that for this kind of music to be produced you need a knowledge of music and harmonic stucture, not just a tune, heavy kit and bass. And as for Rap and decent lyrics, spot on!!! Why do thy give these people air time?? Bunch of violent foul mouthed youths ... nightmare!!!

Thank God for youtube and my old vinyl collection lol ;-)

  • you guys can find me cryin...all of the time oh DX

  • Denny was sooooo high there....

  • This 1966 segment must had the Beatles questioning why they were still clean shaven and wearing matching outfits.

  • god...I miss the 60s sooo much

  • Love It

  • Mama Cash, big in person and voice!!!!

  • @guzzie333 It was Mamma Cass Elliot not Cash

  • Great, great song! So relaxing, and it does take one back too.

  • @0:42 CALM THINE FEET WOMAN

  • back then musicians made music to see who was a better artist! nowadays it's to see who makes more money!

  • @yukons95 ....Or the most obnoxious lyrics heavily laced with the "F" word.....sigh!

    !

  • Holy shit it IS Monday =]

  • Haha they played this as our school bell today. it's really catchy

  • Listening to this is actually probably one of the best things about Monday!

  • My Monday morning here in Arizona getting ready for work and it is going to be a great day Oh Yeah Chuck Mitchell 02/27/2012 GOD BLESS to ALL listeners

  • @Steamfitter469 - wish I had a job to get ready for :( trying to be optimistic and get rid of the theme song from M.A.S.H. that keeps running through my brain.

  • i'm gonna listen to everyday including monday morning

  • Looks like Thom Yorke

  • Nostalgic TimeMan I could not say it any better. You overlooked the fact that most people talk crap these days. Warmest to you mate Graham Melb Aus

  • Many people think California Dreaming was their biggest hit but that's not true it was this song Monday Monday

  • at the end of the song Gene Barry, who was hosting Hollywood Palace that night, came over to talk to them. 11 years later he played Michelle Phillips' father in the mini-series 'Aspen'.

  • how can anyone not like this song its so perfectly describes the feeling of the day

  • hehe, these guys did sooo many drugs back in the day :)

  • @Ph0be so true

  • Great harmonies, sad song about someone who was forgotten ,the weekend ends and life goes on, if there around Monday though then there is a chance! Take this song get out of the hustle and bustle of life go to a forgotten place and you will see just how special a monday can be.

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU'RE LISTENING TO THIS FOR GUILD WARS 2!

  • Denny Doherty was an excellent singer....pity only Michelle Phillips from this great

60's band is the only one still with us.

  • I was seven when this song came out.The weekend's... it's time to get back to work.

  • Monday monday so good to me monday monday it was all i hoped it would be Oh monday morning monday morning couldnt guarantee that monday evening you would still be here with me Monday monday cant trust that day monday, monday sometimes it just turns out that way On monday morning you gave me no warning of what was to be monday monday how could you leave and not take me Every other day every other day of the week is fine But whenever monday comesX2 you can find me crying all of the time
  • There's only one word to describe this video: Groovy!

  • um planeta que tem uma musica destas nao pode ser ruim

  • Can someone clear something up? Am I imagining it or did the Ms & Ps always lip-synch on Sullivan and the Palace? Did one of them have stage fright or something?

  • @UncleMikeNJ i can't say if they were lips-synching there or if they ever did, but i just wanted to point that when a show is shown live sometimes the producers themselves ask groups to lip-synch to prevent posible mistakes, unlike today in that time almost everything went live. being or not that the case this band is still one of my favorites

  • The pause at 2:31 is the greatest thing that the Mamas and the Papas ever did. Seriously.

  • 60's karaoke

  • Now is Monday oh boy...

  • Not what I would have chosen but, whatever.

  • This has always been my favorite song, from the moment I first heard it. Seeing a recording of them singing it, just warms my heart. I love the Mammas and the Pappas. They just don't make bands with such great chemistry and love for music like they used to anymore. Nowadays it's all about money and who can be most famous.

  • @22gwill

If you loved them as much as you say you do, you wouldn't misspell the band name.

  • @SuperstarLamb idiot

  • @SuperstarLamb I'm sure I'm entitled to misspell anything I desire.

  • @22gwill I aggree

  • @22gwill Its always been that way, the only difference is that now there exists no talent, class, decency, or values. That's why most things sound like crap nowadays.

  • Can you miss something that you never ever lived? That's how I feel when I listen to this song!

  • I never get tired of watching that adorable blonde girl perform. beautiful

  • Ah, the good old days . . . when you didn't need an amplifier, microphones, P.A., or a full band for that matter. :-p

  • THE OTHER GUYS!

  • Wow! Dat blonde chick!

  • Outstanding real video on a youtube full of still-photo images to ipod tunes

  • This makes me want to speed through the town in a red cocaine covered prius

  • @Rheticle LOL!! Swing by and grab me up, I'll roll with ya!!

  • @Rheticle Speed and Prius don't belong in the same sentence..LOL!

  • @MrKurt1962 I said "God speed" to the tow truck driver bringing my old piece of shit Prius to the junk yard.

  • its 2012 and my ears hear somthing wonderful when i listen to this music for a change.

  • I like that song, it was very popular, in the summer of 1966, i was 9 years old then !!!

(too bad cass elliott, passed away so early in age !!)

  • EVERYDAY IS A MONDAY when i listen to this SONG

  • yes"" i agree:::: so is everyone else that makes bad comments!

  • as I see it now this group as ABBA were only groups for recrding ..sounded very diferent in live perfomances in fact never heard Abba doin a live perfomance,,

  • If i ever get in a high speed car chase i know what song to play!

  • @kevkokurz ....Well now that's just the complete wrong situation to play this song :P

  • @LorneRossbach But it would be hilariuos

  • good song!

  • Very good. Michelle as a Nord. The 1966 version , that is. The 2012 Michelle is still formidable.

  • my theme song for the zombie apocalypse

  • @thelostremote7678 Hahahahaha...

  • monday monday !!!!!!!!!

  • if Skyrim was made into a movie, then Michelle Phillips could have been cast as every Nord woman in the game.

  • Tant qu' à faire dans le quètaine.

    Charlie.

  • What a good singer Denny Doherty was....sad that Michelle Phillips is the only one still alive today.

  • jo soy lo mas fueda!!!

  • It's a shame we don't see bands like this anymore. Instead we have over rated crap like Rihana, Justin Beiber and Madonna.

  • The 60s really were all about the voice, musicians were first rate and didn't hide imperfections with lots of instrumentals. What a marvelous time for singers like Cass and Denny. The guitar is a mere accompaniment to their great voices.

  • Fuck the foot-work you dick-head. What about the heavenly harmonys. Way ahead of their time..Beautiful music!

  • Like this if your listen to this on a Monday!!

  • i can sum up this song in two words...f#ck mondays

  • is that fat bird a bloke in drag??

  • @aceandbass Gotta tell ya pal as much as it's a despicable comment you've got me in bits with laughter,ha,ha,ha. Luvverly Jubberly, very funny indeed. Take care.

  • Everyone here who is replying to someone else is overweight.

  • mama cass is beautiful and talented :)

  • Aí Xará, são os anos 60 nos fazendo recordar sucessos que marcaram época. Muito bom!

  • Great Song... always has been, but I prefer the day of the live performance as opposed to the old TV days of lip sync.

  • great song.

  • they have a point... you just cant trust that day

  • I was 4 when my girlfriend would eat cinammon toast listen to this song and then walk to school every single day, especially Monday mornings...Laura Sylvester Morrison, I love you!

  • Wow, Michelle was so pretty! She was so young too!

  • I loved the song, "The Good Times are Coming", which Mama Cass sung to the opening credits from the 1970 movie, "Monte Walsh", with Lee Marvin:)

  • ThePooppantsman I assume you are under 10 yrs old judging but your unfunny puerile sense of humour ?

Urban myth about the ham sandwich. Comments like your's are not welcome, why can you not just appreciate the beautiful music and harmonies?

  • THIS song CAN make anyones MONDAY

  • @purselady2 i feel that if i were to wake up to this song on a sunrising monday morning, id instantly fall back asleep

  • oooooo ham and cheese on monday morning isss all it toookk to bring a whale down. Just turns out that wayyy....

  • @ThePooppantsman your sick!!!

  • First album I ever purchased. Still love it.

  • SERBIA OWNS KOSOVO

  • @ToughSerb147 .............and what??????You're a prick but i don't post it everywhere.

  • Hey, I didn't know The Master sang in The Mamas & The Papas! Cool!

  • The fat girls are always the best singers.

  • OBRIGADO POR TER POSTADO ESSE VIDEO, É SIMPLESMENTE MARAVILHOSO

  • @MLP130266

HOW DARE u comment about MAMMA CASS she just happened to be the BEST singer of them all ; not to mention the best PERSONALTY SHE sang FOR EARS not for EYES!

  • @purselady2

This "MLP130266", actually he's jealous on her singing and her charism

  • I cant start my MONDAYS without this SONG

  • @MLP130266 Cass Elliot died from a heart attack;for years it was an urban myth that she had choked on a ham sandwich. This never happened. The attending doctor said no traces of food were found in her system. An UNEATEN sandwich was by her bed though.

  • @MLP130266 Boy you're a ... funny guy, dude.

  • Salve os anos 60. Salve a internet que nos da a oportunidade de assistir rssas maravilhas.

  • John Phillips = visionary

  • Vintage Music !!!

  • A beautiful melodic John Phillips song, with lovely rich four part harmonies, impeccably sung that epitomises the best in sixties music.

  • I always loved Denny's voice. Both his and Cass's. Of course, she was simply phenominal.

  • @texjoyrn1

    Absolutely spot on

  • Now I understand why disco died

  • @MegaNima2011, I know you're attempting to be funny but that made zero sense. One, this isn't disco. Two, this is from the 60's a decade before people even knew what disco was you dumb dick.

  • @EastCoastDude99 watch your language. You dum liberal. Go take a walk

  • @MegaNima2011, lol. Im not a liberal. I shower and work for a living.

  • @EastCoastDude99 answer this: who is the biggest pervert in the world?? (a) keith olbermann, (b) keith olbermann, (c) keith olbermann

  • @MegaNima2011 d. Barney Frank

  • @EastCoastDude99 lmao!!!

  • i dont get it! the hairstyles in 1958 is very different to 1967 but 1967 is not different to 2012 why?

  • Rebecca Black added the rest of the week :)

  • Did this make #1? It sure got a lot of air time back in the day.

  • @broadwayFan28 Yes, it did.

  • Love this group! and there songs. Grew up in that era and it rocked!!

  • i pretty sure the singer narrated scuffy the tug boat but thats what my dad says

  • Ha! Michelle goofed in the final chorus. You can see her almost laughing but she recovers well.

Excellent song. What show was this footage from with John and the electric guitar and not in "hippy" attire and is clean shaven? I've only ever seen this song performed on Ed Sullivan Show where he has the odd looking hat on and plays a 12-string acoustic.

  • CLASSIC

  • Hollywood Palace! I was beginning to wonder if it was real because no one but me remembered it!

  • Awesome!!

  • Such a great sounding Band. But my favorite thing of all their performances is the footwork of Mama Cass, she definitely got in to the music.

  • @lvetetoe Looks like she's wearing green galoshes, lol.

  • @lvetetoe god she was good

  • @lvetetoe She has always been the one worth watching because she had some of the grooviest footwork when singing.

  • @lvetetoe Right - I know, i was watching her in Calif Dreamin, and she was smooth!

  • Garfield dislike this song XD

  • @axadys

    THATS 68 GARFIELDS!!!

  • FIRST : That girl at right at 0:01 is HOT

SECOND : That is the worst playback ever ...

THIRD: But it is a awesome song

  • @olivierjaquet You mean Michelle Philips. :) Yeah, she was a babe in the day ... and she's still very attractive. She's the last surviving member of the group.

  • very nice

  • my boyfriend's brother kind of looks like Denny lol

  • Amazing

  • Their vocal orchestration will never be matched. Timeless stuff.
