I'm not saying this to offend the nurse of 18 years, that's a hard job so thank you for your contribution to health care. I did want to say though, I'm 30 years old and I don't know WHY I remember such trivial things but in the hospital that my brother was born in, smoking was 100% acceptable, *(in the hallway DIRECTLY in front of the labor & delivery rooms, NIIICE!) My brother was born in CT, in December of 1988, I got in big trouble for playing in the sand box. (It was one of those ash trays
Our younger generation is so much more enlightened and smarter than the old generation retards. Unfortunately, this statement will hold true for every generation.
They so missed the mark with the baby drawer. Today, mother goes home after only spending 3 hours in the recovery room. Insurence companies see hospital stays far to expensive. I can see the day coming where they send patients home after only a night or two after having open heart surgery.
I love these vids! It's so cool to see how far off the visions of the future in the 50's were. Maybe if we'd all stuck to what was expected to happen, we might all be a lot better off.Then again,when I was in grade school in the early 60's we were all told that we needed to learn the metric system too. I'm still waiting for that one to take hold!...lol I guess that's just something more that the future holds for all of us...
uh..right. the baby idea is good, but then either the babies have great distance between them or would all be in different room making hard for nurses?o.o;;
the lolly thing is kida overdoing it too lol..i get it but still, only thing i can imagine feeling in hosp when an adult is just fear or nervousness =.=
The baby drawer thing isn't such a bad idea, but 2 things to fix: Make the drawer big enough so the baby won't get stuck, and you'll have to put the rooms up against the nursery.
Baby's limbs caught in drawer,no problem. Simply insert baby into suction canister and send to orthopedics. Thanks for posting this. I can't get enough of this stuff. No wonder we're so screwed up :) Thanks Mom and Dad!
they didn't know smoking was bad back then and smoking always looked fashionable and he was smoking bc he was nervous for his wife and many people smoke bc of nerves.
@xanafanadu people tell me that even back in the early 80's, nurses smoked at the nursing station when they were charting. i've been a nurse for almost 18 years, so i never saw that.

Is this a REAL hospital, or something that was planned and never built?
InweTaralom 2 months ago
Let's move the entire bed instead of having something smaller they can be in for transport.

@richardcwood1 No, today SOME doctors smoke. back then, probably MOST doctors smoked. I'm willing to bet the percentage has dropped dramatically.

To be fair, automatic doors aren't a bad idea from an infection control perspective.
