  • I absolutely love Everette, he always puts emotion in his music and something amazing comes out of that horn. Possibly my fav. sax. Thanks everette for sharing your gift with us so powerfully

  • really relaxing track to listen for..

  • I just want to clarify that this saxophone player's name is Everette Harp. Being a musician myself and having met the man several times when we were both playing at festivals, he doesn't like people talking about his hair back in those days lol. Anyways, Gerald Albright is much different looking than Everette in his younger days. Do some research people!

  • who is this sax player? He's AWESOME!! (is he blind?)

  • wow great! Nice!

  • does anybody knows how to get a note of this song???pls help me..i really wanna know how to play this song with my sax..tnx!!!

  • @rodel630 learn to play by ear its a good skill to have

  • Really great! : )

  • If that is young Gerald Albright, he was awfully

out of tune by then ! =/ Not comparable to his

    todays skills

  • the sax player is Gerald Albright

  • @iceman15579 no its not its Everette Harp you fool.. lol

  • O cara é muito bom , que agudo fantastico, Parabens. aqui do Brasil

  • Damn, that was tight. That's a good song.

  • ArthurRLA: The sax player is Everette Harp

  • Who is the Sax player??

  • @ArthurRLA It's Josh Tesh! man!

  • Oh!. thanks.. xD

  • the sax player is NOT john tesh....tesh is playing on the piano

  • oh dang love the song dont really for his tone but high notes sound pretty good at parts. i just his making the alto sound like a soprano a little to much for my taste.

  • this is the best iam studing ssaxphone music he is the best

  • audio messes up sound of sax just a bit i bet he sounds better :P

  • w0w very nice such a pleasure to here this

  • he's good... the sax really looks petite because of hs muscular body.. heheheh... jk...well, nice sound!

  • There are many ways to sing a beautiful song.....

  • uhm, YEAH! and he's done well! he's played it beautifully! Right?

  • Yeah!! Everette Harp!!

You can hear this version at the John Tesh project. I got one copy and it is really "Take A Look At Me Now". Maybe to distinguish it from the "Against All Odds" title.

  • simple version but WOW its amazing....

  • absolutley beautiful

  • 2:32 awesome part ^^

  • The guy that's playing the sax is Everette Harp.....This is playing at it's best.....by the way, the song is called Against All Odds.

  • Definitely not....What other sax players have you listened to? I've played with better sax players myself. In fact, I can play better than that and I'm nothing special. His tone quality in the lower range of the horn is disgraceful.....

  • you have your opinion, but Everette Harp is considered as one of the best contemporary alto sax players. He played with Marcus Miller, George Duke, Anita Baker etc... Look for Marcus Miller's Run For Cover video and tell me that dude can't play. He's an excellent bebop player also ! Trust me, I'm not a Smooth jazz fan.

  • Your disgraceful to say that. You can't play better then him if you can't move a crowd like he just did. It's just your taste that says his tone is bad that dosen't mean it really is.

  • OMG amazing, sax beats all instruments! wow. ya can say everything u want with a sazaphone it conveys every emotion.

  • Best version ever of this song I could listen to it every day !

  • best song ever nuthing beets alto saxphone great video thanks who ever uploaded

  • 1:18 gives me the chills everytime

  • Great video of the saxofonista Evereret Harp! This song is a classic one and I like the interpretation of this talented saxofonista does with much sensitivity! Thank you very much sherrylynn70! : )

  • WoW! That is one beautiful performance..had to check it out one more time...Bravo Everette Harp and John Tesh!!

  • I could ~♥kiss♥~ you for bringing me this moment..the absolute beauty of YouTube for me to get to experience this masterpiece moment with Everette Harp and John Tesh..much appreciation ♥memelito♥ 5* Performance

  • The saxophone guy is everette harp he is amazing! Trully probly one of my favorite alot players today. He plays with great emotion and knowledge of the music!

  • I doubt that it's Mark VI he is playing, or even a Selmer for that matter... The octave mechanism is missing the distictive "S" decoration and also the underslung neck brace is not not typical for a Selmer... I would guess it's a vintage US horn..

  • Actually you are incorrect... it looks like a Super Balanced action (pre Mark VI, no "S" on the octave key) with an added brace on the underside of the neck to prevent it from being pulled down. It is absolutely a Selmer.

  • yes, you are right

  • oldest selmers even mark VI have that octave mechanism, mines for example :)

  • Good...Very good....Excelente!!!

Sou mais um fã do Brasil!!!

    Tiago Ventureli

  • soulful!

  • gyuhj

  • Great... Great A bilion times....

    I love it

    Nenê Santos

  • i think it is jim waters

  • No mejor que Albright !!!

  • the sax guy has an orgasm at 2:33

  • haha yh looks like it lol

  • lol

  • Magnificent job!

    grato!

  • Amazing.

  • sublimeeee!!!

  • i belive that's everett harp on sax?

  • i smile everytime i hear this... =] this is what sax playing is about... did you see the emotion on his face!

  • this song is called "Against All Odds" and is by Phil Collins.

  • i think his muscles are more amazing....they are huge!nice sound, i have to add......

  • how hard is it to learn this song on teh sax

  • Real easy but most of what he's playing isn't in the standard melody.

  • Amazing....

  • still my absolute favorite song!!!!

  • his name is everette harp. he's incredible hey!?

  • Awesome, but check out Gerard Albright on the Phil Collins Big Band version of this song...(album:a Hot Night Night In Paris) If you thought this was good then you'll be blown away, it's some of the best sax playing you're ever going to hear....

  • es una beechler bellite 7 u 8?

  • wish i was that amazing.... FAVOURITE VID OF THIS YEAR!

  • i play this on my alto all the time =] xxx

  • would you happen to have the shhet music? I love this song to but am not good enough to play it by ear. Thanks.

  • It is better to try and play by ear! Like they say practice makes perfect. You have to start somewhere!

  • Is it just me or is he really flat on a few of those lower register notes in the 1st minute or so? Might be the tape source slowing down though.

  • can anyone say xhose that sax player please?????

    thx allready

  • I think he's Everette Harp

  • This sax player is good but Fausto Papetti was unbeatable!

  • Fausto Papetti? Who is he? unbeatable saxsofonist like Gerald Albright or Dave koz or Eric Marienthal or Ed Calle? Are you sure? but Papetti? sorry about that.

  • HES AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • the sax player is everette harp

  • very very nice...!!!!! awesome performance.....!!! memelito... im daryl from the philippines.... can i have a favor...? can you give me a copy of that song....? if its ok to you...? because i have a alto sax.... and im a brass band member in our school... and i will play your music in the contest... please memelito..... because i know that your song is so nice... hoping that its ok to you... good bye and GOD bless... more power to you...
  • i use size 3 rico de royal reeds. i had been using 2.5 rico's for about a year and when i tried a number 3 vanderon, my range was dramatically diminished (i could barely play anything below a G) and i could hardly play at all, so i switched back to rico for now. working on hitting low D without having to go down the scale >>

  • garon604, Maybe its the gap-ness of your mouth piece... THe different gapness and reed combination can seriously diminis or improve your range. Wider Gap is better just don't go with a mouthpiece that restricts airflow... Take care

  • This sounds like highschool music to me. Music for little kids.

  • I totally blow on #4 reeds. Mine recently broke and a friend gave me a 2. I was like "Oh Jeezbus Chriss.."

  • reeds are down to personal choice, it also depends what make of reed your using, personally on my yani 7 i use vandoren java 3's!

This isnt a bad recording, but personally i prefer gerald albrights by far....if you guys aint heard it check it out the guys amazing!

  • I Agree, I like Gerald Albrights way better too.

Have you heard his new CD he put out last year

  • Oh god yeah its amazin on one of the tracks which i cant for the life of me remember the name of....but the way he just pops out those altissimo notes as if hes playin normal a's or somethin.

I went to the extreme of buyin his canonball sax model....i was very disapionted they are terible horns.....but apparently all his album work is on his mark 6 oh well...!

  • yeAH i KNOW WHAT SONG YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

I thinks it's Goerga on my mind. i can't believe the way he pops out those altissimo notes. i have his cannonball sax too, the same one he used with phil collins. The one i have is ok, it's not that bad, what do you think of the yamaha 82 z ?

  • Everette Harp IS awsome

  • does anyone know what size reed you need to play with my metal selmer mouth piece to get this sound? thanks

  • Depends on what size facing, you're mouthpiece is. I play # 3 reed on my number 7 Yanagisawa

metal mouthpiece, but on my selmer metal mouthpiece is a size 9 and I use a number 2 . in my opinion, i think plastic cover reeds sound the with that mouthpiece

  • justinmonroy, It all depends on your embrichure and the pressure your mouth does on the mouth piece (aim for the middle gap, to little vibration and you squik, to much and it will throw you off). I use a Bergalursen Metal Mouth piece (wide gap) with anywere from 3, 3 1/2, 4 reed. I never use plastic becuase the sound is not good in my opinion. Bottom line aim for the middle and you will get the desaired sound.

  • nice outfit ;-)

  • thanks for uploading it

  • i thought phil collins version was amazing but i like this better. im working on it right now

  • Cool man :).... I loved this version too...

  • oooo man that was amazing.
