Just one observation. Charley + Ewan + Long Way Round = Long Way Down. Charley + Ewan + Eve + Long Way Down = NOTHING EVER AGAIN and for that we all lose.
Charlie and Ewan went through hell going across the world. Charlie practiced almost a year before he rode the Dakar. As a first time Dakar rider, he was performing in the top half of all the riders. Then he broke both his arms because a small lapse in concentration while riding on soft sand.
What makes Eve think that she'd be able survive a trip to South Africa, which is a slower version of Dakar?

They also have career and family to take care of as well...
And you could handle EVERY Visa for every country? Can you field strip and reassemble a BMW from memory? In truth he's making a documentary ANY competent rider would. And, I'd wager he's far more skilled as a rider than 90% of the people on American roads! And it's an entire TEAM project: Charley gets more recognition in the motorcycle community and HE is the main drive for it. And, it's still a working expedition. I think he's doing quite well at it

I've done quite a lot of off/on road long distance riding and its bloody hard work so its definitely a mistake to bring eve. Not because she is a woman, but because she's petite and not physically strong enough. Ewan and Charlie are highly experienced riders and she would only slow them down. That said, i'm happy that Ewan is so supportive and it must be great to share an experience like that with your wife.

Charlie and Ewan went through hell going across the world. Charlie practiced almost a year before he rode the Dakar. As a first time Dakar rider, he was performing in the top half of all the riders. Then he broke both his arms because a small lapse in concentration while riding on soft sand.
What makes Eve think that she'd be able survive a trip to South Africa, which is a slower version of Dakar?

Stop bagging on Eve! He clearly loves his wife very much and deeply cares about her. Don't say he was "possesed" when he married her, because there's more to love than that. She wants to go with him because she loves him. I agree it's not a good idea, but she just doesn't want him to get hurt. Why is that so wrong!?

That was a VERY stupid thing for her to even suggest. Each relationship needs it's unique dynamic, and each person IN the relationship needs their own unique outlet to remain individual and to keep those aspects that make each person unique. Her demand to insert herself in a project that is not of any interest to her except to maintain attention on her is selfish and dangerous for everyone involved. It's NOT a beginner or intermediate trip. She's just being a regular rich twat

I swear Ewan McGregor spews narcissism, the guys an actor for a reason, or maybe the narcissism was a by product of the acting, who knows. These two guys are given the illusion of adventure whilst a crew of qualified individuals are up to their neck making it look effortless behind the scenes. I mean the guy didn't even have to change his own shock when it was busted, or take care of his own visa.

@1vgarza Ewan's an actor because he's good at it. Don't see one bit of narcissism. Regardless of wether they don't do it all of it themselves, it is still a great adventure! Remember that they are making a tv show in the process of doing the trip and all the paper work, visas, scheduling etc. for bikers, crew and camera men obviously requires special attention! They also have career and family to take care of as well...

And you could handle EVERY Visa for every country? Can you field strip and reassemble a BMW from memory? In truth he's making a documentary ANY competent rider would. And, I'd wager he's far more skilled as a rider than 90% of the people on American roads! And it's an entire TEAM project: Charley gets more recognition in the motorcycle community and HE is the main drive for it. And, it's still a working expedition. I think he's doing quite well at it

Eve coming along changed the dynamic from a great guys road trip to 'reality tv'

I've done quite a lot of off/on road long distance riding and its bloody hard work so its definitely a mistake to bring eve. Not because she is a woman, but because she's petite and not physically strong enough. Ewan and Charlie are highly experienced riders and she would only slow them down. That said, i'm happy that Ewan is so supportive and it must be great to share an experience like that with your wife.

I personally don't think riding a motorcycle is a "bloke thing," it is for both genders but I agree with you, as what you classify a "Modern Woman," that Eve should not go because this is Charley and Ewan's adventure, Ewan and Eve can go together another time. But I am a little insulted that you decided to group all women who want to go beyond the "stay in the kitchen" dogma with Eve. And to be honest, we have to prove ourselves because otherwise we get shit from sexist men like yourself.
