  • The first, and only, time I ever saw this was at a show at the Red Vic movie house on Haight street in San Francisco, back in 1990. I had just watched a movie, when they invited us all to stay and watch these really cool shorts, this was one of them. The theater was in a different location than it is now, back then it was east of Cole about a block. That old address was a B&B and a gift shop last time I went in there, I think. The old Red Vic had couches you could lay on. Kinda cool.

  • Music = Boris Blank... ART and Video's = Dieter Meier... Yello are still in the game today... But they were to ahead of their time back in the 80's though ! THANK YOU YELLO for making my under influenced state of self in some bizzar place in my brain !!

  • This great avant garde song from a great conceptual record, Claro que Sí....

  • im 17, youngest yello fan??

  • THIS was the video that got me in to Yello back in 1982. Bizarre and fascinating simultaneously.

  • ty, such a good ride.

  • Wow this is good :D.. ahh I mean 'yellow' ;)

  • this and Bostich and Pinball Cha Cha sound like different mixes than the ones that are on the Ralph release here in the states...anyone know?

  • I never noticed before how 'suggestive" ~1:23-1:30 is...I guess my mind is dirtier now than it used to be. ;-) Anyway...I've loved Yello since the early 80's.

  • Super!!!

  • @blacky159 vorsicht blacky ist ein spammer.

  • XD deine mudda is ein spammer

  • @blacky159 und dein Vadda is auch ein spammer :-)

  • very best, great!!

  • awsome

  • I Love It!!!!

  • Круто, нет слово!!!!!

  • The Album STELLA from Yello is the best of bests

  • Stella is really something special! \oO/

  • IT'S FRANCO BEGBIE!!!!

  • Fuckin brand new by the way!

  • The young one is really cute too.

  • cool

  • They make so many damn good songs. Incredibally creative- will always love their music.

  • I think they shot all these videos at the same time, in the same place. Good for them.

  • Notice how many of the Yellow mannerisms remind me of David Bryne of Talking Heads. Always id enjoy the music group--Yellow.

  • best Yello song

  • The comments about this video are cracking me up.

Yello was much more than Oh Yeah... in fact, when that song came out, hardcore Yello fans accused the band of selling out.

This video was one of the early staples of MTV, all the way back from 1981.

Yello was a classic icon of 80's alternative and college radio!!

  • i agree mate...the race was main stream 2...my fav band they are..chow

  • I find myself having been severely deprived for never having heard nor seen this to my reckoning in 27 years. I hope I haven't been so lazy...

  • Yeah... it seems Yello has more material than I remember hearing too. I thought that Oh Yeah was about it...

  • Try the best I have ever heard: Live at Roxy

  • anyone have an idea what is being said (sorta in the music background) around 1min 10 sec?

  • This piece is so tightly woven into the DNA of my adolesence, it's no wonder I'm disappointed by today's youth culture. What current artist can live up to this?

  • The memories! Being stoned at "The New Wave Lounge" in Ft. Lauderdale on spring break dancing to this video.

    Genius!

  • Ahh so original and fresh in everything they did! Funny to see Carlos Peron :-)

  • If you can believe it, MTV actually had this video on light rotation back in the early years, when they were BEGGING record companies for videos, and WAY before 'Oh Yeah' was made popular in Ferris Bueller. Dieter Meier also used to hang out in Danceteria in the early 80's, he was a very charming man.

  • I actually remember seeing this on MTV. It rocks all get out.

  • Same here, and it sure did. Because early MTV needed what videos it could get, there was some cool eclectic stuff there (like this, Icehouse's Icehouse video, etc)

  • Recien em entero de que Carlos Peron era Argentino

  • One of the best music videos ever made

  • Dieter...you are so suave....Have another PBR on me.....what should we toast?

  • Ich habe die Musik von Yello schon immer geliebt!Die sind einfach grandios!

  • I have been haunted by the brilliance of the stop motion animating glow sticks for 25 years now. Thanks for posting. Fantastic.

  • M A S T E R P I E C E...

  • These guys are great. Now I see the Residents connection with Ralph Records. Thanks for that trivia about the producer of this video..

  • directed by Grame whifler,

    director of

"songs for swinging larvae" by Renaldo & The Loaf

"One Minute Movies" by The Residents

    "Hello Skinny" by The Residents

"Not Available" by The Residents (the production)

"True Men DOn't Kill Coyotes" by Red Hot Chili Peppers

"The Man In The Dark Sedan" by Snakefinger

"Why Are We Here" by MX-80 Sound

he also did the lighting for The Residents "Vileness Fats" movie project

  • very cool. I played this on my radio show recently and remembered this video. So I was hoping to find it and you've done a wonderful service. Thanks!

  • I've only seen this once, many years ago, at a dance club. Too bad they didn't put it on their video release. I love this!

  • Me to! It impressed me then and it still does.

  • my god. i've been looking for this video for 25 years. thank you for posting it. it's a landmark achievement in music and video. you rock for putting this here!!!! thank you!!!!

  • I've been looking for this one. USA Network's old show from the early 80's called "Night Flight" played it and it was the only time I ever saw it. Wish those old Night Flight's were available on DVD

  • SPECIAL!!!!!

best of the early years' YELLO clip!! 3 members here!!!

  • Brilliant video. It's a shame Carlos Peron left the group, they simply weren't the same after that.

  • yeah - really. their early work outshone anything they did afterwards. carlos shouldn't of left : (

i grew up on this and it brings back good memories

thanks for posting. baramartin. check out dieter meiyers' website - he has done allsorts of nutty stuff

  • yes, all there music has a place with me,,but nothing is better than bimbo!

  • You are a goddess for posting this! What an amazing video...no wonder I couldn't get this band out of my mind after seeing this latenite on MTV sometime late 1982. All right, I'm gonna go ahead and watch this again a few thousand times!
