Williams! Omg! Haha Mari owns him! My mom's best friend! I might get to go out this summer and see Mari in exchange for some riding lessons I'd tack horses for her. :3
If you think this looks great on film, you should see this man riding in person! I have had the honor of watching him ride many times and it is mind-blowing to watch! He makes your jaw-drop-the most awesome rider I have ever seen!
Unfortunately the notion that a dressage horse should become unnerved by a cheering crowd is a North American one. Go to a dressage show in Germany. You would think you were at a rock concert, and the horses seem to actually enjoy the attention.
R the people crazy to shout n scream like dat?! It's their luck, that the horse is that concentrated and doesn't run away! Any other horse would be frightened to death!
horses in the dressage world need to get used to cheering, etc. it's shocking how many riders don't spend the time getting their horses desensitized to crowds and chaos. it is entirely realistic to expect your horse to ignore the cheering... poor excuse for training and what a waste of talent if your olympic calibre horse would freak if you got him in front of a crowd that size.
Although the horse should not be frightened to death, it should be expected that it would shy away from screaming crowds such as this one. Dressage riders spend years training to get to Grand Prix, and I don't think that getting horses used to crowds is one of their biggest priorities. The reason this stallion is fine with it is because he has most likely been shown in front of crowds a good percentage of his life. The crowd should be courteous during a test, and wait until the end to scream.
my horse wouldn't be frightened to death- the horse should be focused on the rider. If the horse spooks at some cheering, the rider needs to learn to ride.
some horses respond to people shouting for them in a happy and gitty matter. Most breeds of horse are not calm and suttle enough for this like arabians and the hot blooded breeds. If you've seen the lipizaners then you would understand how the horses love to be cheered at.
wow..that is a gorgeous horse, and its amazing how well steffan moves with him, the majority of riders that you see that ride an exctended trot are all of the place, but he just stays right with him
i kno western ppl hav other ways of doin exactly what we do. so dont feel bad wen u lot see a western barrel racer turn better than a pirrouetting grand prix dressage stally.
I think that all true horse people (no matter what type riding they do) appreciate a lovely rider and beautiful moving horse. Each venue of riding presents it's challenges.
This just gave me the chills lol, fab extended trot!

Are you sure it was a dressage show? LOL! Looked more like a dressage "expo" at a rodeo. Regardless, beautiful horse. :)

Yes -- was at the Horse Expo -- a dressage demonstration (not a competition) held in the rodeo arena :-)
