Great baby and great news. I only hope he is not abused into learning tricks of shipped away from his family. Animals do not need to do tricks to appreciate their greatness.

We were there and saw it yesterday when he was one day old !! Unfortunitely it was pretty far away and out of view a lot but it is soooo cute! He weighed 253 pounds the day he was born. Next time I will bring binoculars.

@heyjenknee I was thinking how sweet he looks and how I'd want to scoop him up to hug . . . Ah, but if he weighed that much at birth, then it's highly unlikely anyone will be hugging on this sweet pea!

@onekinkstar I know what you mean, I would to hug it myself but most of the elephants I think are very protective of him so it wouldn't happen anyway. Nearly the whole time we were watching, the baby was under the mom (nursing probably) and his sibling was right there next to them blocking our view.
