  • Adding Ajax or Comet would make the mixture much more abrasive - processing time would no doubt be shortened. I believe Ajax or Comet both contain mild corrosives which could be very active on coins rotating in the tumbler. I use a very mild dish soap. It cleans the coins great and is easy to rinse off. I tried dish washer detergent once and got a batch of pennies that looked like they had been acid etched and baked in an oven. I'm staying with mild soap. Good luck with your tumbling.

  • if you put ajax or comet would it make a difference?

  • A great way of money laundering!

  • Awesome tumbler!

  • Cool..but why would you clean pennies ?

  • @7777dmith7777 We metal detectorists pull all kinds of dirty coins from the ground. In order to bring them back to the bank or use them in vending machines we have to clean them first.

  • @7777dmith7777 the bank won't take them with shit on them

  • aquarium rocks and dish soap--cool-----

  • or, you can soak it in vinegar and salt

  • thumps up if you saw "cleaning penis in a rock tumbler". sry had to do it <.<

  • i dought its gonan be affacitve with so much rocks

  • what tumbler brand and model is this one?

  • @b11v51q68y This is a Thumler A R12. It is a 12 pound rated machine. You can see and hear it in action on my website School Of Hard Rocks or look for my video of the A R12 on YouTube.

  • must be jewish

  • there must be OVER 9000!!!!!

  • would this work as a ball mill for fireworks

  • lol

  • @TheQuantumChemist

It should work as a ballmill yes however it might be running a bit too slow to get fast results.

  • G;day mate, Cool barrel! Noted you use plexiglass, Have you tried glass?? Just wondering how it would hold up compared to the plexiglass..... Still going on mine, Bit of a monster but only want to do it once;)

  • Glass would probably work fine. I haven't seen any evidence of the rocks bashing the end plate - just sliding along it. I have stayed with plexiglass (or Lexan) as it is easy for me to saw a circle and file and sand the edge smooth. This barrel seals by compressing the rubber mouth around the lid. If I could cut a circle from glass with just the right diameter and then sand it or somehow eliminate any sharp edges, I would give it a try.

  • Aw hell! I've been doing it wrong!!!

  • g3yye,

Where did you get the clear lid for your Tumbler? Where can I get clear lids for my A-R2?

  • I make clear lids from plexiglass. I have used plexiglass from old picture frames or purchased from the hardware store. Cut it round. Smooth the edge with a file. It may cloud a bit during the rough grind, but it smooths as the grits get finer and polishes crystal clear as you move to final polishing. Good luck. Please let me know how it works for you.

  • ...That's a good idea. I'll keep this in mind for when I get my 65LB tumbler. ^-^

Any opinions on Diamond Pacific's 65T model? :D

  • The 65T looks like an excellent machine. You should be able to polish some amazing things in it. I am just completing a unit, the B1A1, that turns rocks in 4 truck tires - video available on YouTube.
