  • Well maybe you should ask people about the size of bands. Look at William S. Hart, they are a 4a band and they outscore most 5 and 6a bands. So size means nothing. Plus im not saying you guys sounded bad, but rtbone5713 only videoed you guys. If he made one of us we would sound better on that one too. Plus we were first all season and even swept poway at a tournament so im not too sure why you think you are soo much better.

  • Thank you. Dude, last year we were ninth ranked and got nine out of ten at championships on OUR field lol. I don't really see that many people going on about besides Denver. And its kinda harsh to say that its dumb that we are happy we won. If you were in that position I'm sure you would talk about it just as much. So i apologize for snapping at you in my previous comments. But in my honest opinion it's kinda of ignorant to say that you guys are better when we ALL we judged by the same people.

  • Plus I'm not too sure why you think you guys sound better. I'm not being cocky or anything but i listen and watch both videos by socalmarching, and we sound a lot better. As for not being loud enough, listen to the end of your last song. That was a good sound. But ours were more full and sounded better.

  • Hmm...well, okay.

If that's how you feel, who am I to change it?

  • Hey Mr. havoc it says you're fourteen so that means you're an ignorant freshman. We did win and just because you lost doesn't give you the right to moan and complain about it like a little baby. It was obviously good enough to beat you and whatever school you are from

  • Oh never mind i see that rancho verde has the same color uniforms as us. Dude you have no right to be telling us we suck when you got 11th...

  • This is the REAL Mr.Havoc4 from youtube and i want you to know that i did not leave all these comments,i gave my password to a friend to change some things on my account(i was out of town and had no access to a computer)and judging by all the messages in my inbox,he must have started a chopfight with you other people

Sorry about it, and i will be having some words of wisdom with this person(he's a 7th grader at Vista Verde MS in case anyone wondered)

I will delete ALL the comments he left

  • Or perhaps mrhavoc you are form vista and in that case you got sixth. Ask Mr. ortiz luis or mr. andersen. we were straight up better.

  • poly did the best, personally speaking. GO BARITONES!!!

  • rancho verde's last note was nice. haha. woot rowland raider regiment =] we didnt even make champs last year but we placed 5th. :D

  • hey man you got the sweepstakes awards wrong. osos got music.

    *osos tenors baby!* woo!

  • murrmesa.

    suwooo

  • I'm not knocking Vista cause they were great, but you compare them to Mt. Carmel in terms of sound. What about the other bands in 5a that finished ahead of Vista? Especially Los Osos, Riverside Poly, and Murrieta Valley? Cause it sounds like you're saying Vista has a better sound than them.

  • Murrietta Valley sounded great and perfect. The only problem was that they sounded the SAME for all three of their songs as if the SAME instruments were being played as the focal point. I heard only a FEW instruments being played louder than the others for all three songs to produce that perfect sound. There was no variety. The drums were almost a non-player for the first two songs then the final song they finally came in. But musically, they were perfect. I would have liked variety, though.

  • Just so you know, im in murrieta valley, and there was originally no drum part for the piece we chose... and i thought there was a large variety, bringing up sax and clarinet in beginning, clarinet was in alot as well, and the flutes had a juicy expose in the third movement. Oh, and just wanted to throw it out there if u werent aware, we have 1 band director a drum teacher, and 2 color guard coaches, i think theyve done an AMAZING job with the band this year since we didnt have any sect coches.

  • tBoneM4ST3R, murrieta valley did amazing on music. The one thing though, university marching bands like USC, etc. use the trumpets for the main melody. You will hear a a lot trumpets and drums in university marching bands. I guess that's the manly way. In high school marching band competition, the judges like the clarinet, flute, xylophones, the softer instruments for the main melody. The trumpets are mainly used as highlights and background. The judges also like the all-American marching music.

  • Osos baby =]

  • This day was fun. This was Rancho Verde's first ever time in Championships. tho we came in 11th it was still awsome. I liked other schools fie;d show but i like ares better only cause ares was fun and up beat. everyone elses was all musical it was still cool but kinda boring every band was awsome.

  • The best SCSBOA show I enjoyed was in 2006--

    Fountain Valley 5A Champions 2006

The only problem with that show was that they used too much synthesizers. You could hardly hear the band playing and there was much focus on the marching which looked awesome. But I loved the music played by the FV that year.

  • Why thank you

  • aww :( no west torrance .

    oh well :P

  • GO MURRIETA VALLEY!!! You guys rock!!!

  • im a freshman bass clarinet player at Vista, all of these bands impressed me so much, all the kids going out and putting there hearts and souls into these shows i admire so much. last year are band would of finished 19th, Murrieta Valley was ranked 12 and got 10th that year, all of the programs have made huge strides i hope to see all of these bands next year as friendly competition draws us to a great new marching season.

  • Actually we were ranked 9th last year...but now were NUMBER 1

  • sorry my director said that, you guys are really great it was really clean great job!

  • lifetakesmusic, there is something about's Vista's music that sounds so 6A in the likes of Mt. Carmel. Vista's music performance is tops. Their music is crisp like Mt. Carmel's. It is as if each band member takes private lessons. I heard that Mt. Carmel requires each band member to take private lessons outside of school. That's why when Mt. Carmel plays, each note is correct so you could hear the crispness of their music.

  • thanks so much! i've seen Mt. Carmel's show i have to say its amazing .that night we had the third highest music score, which is pretty cool because 2/3's of the band is freshman. Vista provides section couches but most still take private lessons. thank you for the comments im sure the whole band appreciates it.....once again thanks...shea

  • also, uopebus2008, i was just wondering where u got the connection that a 6a band sounds crisp, Vista Murrieta is 6a and i didnt think theres was crisp, because thats not how the song was written, i think vista did an incredible job, but i wouldnt classify them 6a by the crispness of their sound...

  • tBoneM4ST3R, I meant the 6a first-placers and sweepstakes winners like Mt. Carmel. Vista used to be 6a.
