love your videos. Nice job for using barbless hooks. I live in france and always spin for pike.. had lots and lots of 19lb fish but never over 20. Fisherman here even use live baby ducklings as pike bait..... very cruel i think.
OK, so why the South African cricket cap!? Haha...
Also, great videos. I've never seen a Pike but I'd like to, also never seen an Adder or a (live) Grass snake in the UK. I found two Tiger Snakes out in Australia but I'd love to see more. Come to Devon much? lol
well I wouldn't quite agree with you there mate, but thanks anyway! I have a huge respect for Steve, but I wouldn't want to copy him in my more serious vids. My mission IS to increase awareness of Britich wildlife tho, so cheers for mentioning that!

haha ive caught several pike in double figures and he put that back wrong you have to slowly put it back in the water and hol dit in your hands for a couple of minutes and let it swim away when it wants to becasue they are usual nackered after putting a up a fight and die of been so tired
pike are probably the hardiest fish though mate, so he will have been fine, and he'd been through the wars too. I did put him back gently and stopped filming to do it, then picked the camera back up just to finish the shot. Thanks for your concern. Anglers should be this way,
actually it is a popular misconception that pike are hardy just because they are the apex predator, in actual fact they are probably the most fragile species in British water. nothing wrong with that release though.
I have always wanted to fish in Britain. i'v fished a couple of rivers in Montana and minnesota and i'v cought some massive trout and bass, but the idea of getting into the fighting chair with a fish that size sounds rather appealing.
It is, very appealing! Hiya mate, I used to live in Conneticut and grew up on bass fishing. It was all I ever did! And to me there's no better pond-based sport fish in the world. Had alot of fun. Alot of anglers are crazy about carp over here in the same way, but I prefer the predators. Cheers for the comment mate,

Hehe, yer I've seen a monsterous pike there once and maybe it was the one that attacked this guy?? Certainly stay away if I were a duckling :) Thanks Erik, as usual, great support, cheers,
To catch that monster you can use some bigger lures on a baitcaster maybe. Like long rubber twisters (Bulldawg). The big ones are used to spinners and like a big meal. You can even use rubber lures up to 30 cm. Also jerkbaits are good to catch the big pike.
Thanks mate. I've never used really big plugs or bulldawgs. They kinda scare me cos I can never believe they can catch fish, but ofcourse they do! Mite give it a go when it gets a little warmer...for me, not the pike!!! Cheers,
It is amazing sometimes, what you catch with them, but you need to reach the places where the bigger pike are, but on most ponds there are are a few 90 cm+ pikes. Never suspected you were a pike fisher, maybe it is the same with you as with me, reptiles in summer and pike in winter. I do also monitoring of fish. See catch of the weather fish. That is a year round thing.
