This isn't Guns 'N' Roses. This is a bitter disappointment in every way. This is Axl Rose and "various artists." Axl killed Guns and now we all have to suffer this insufferable album. Listen to any song on Appetite for Destruction, then listen to Madagascar on Chinese Democracy and look me in the eye and tell me that this is good music. This is garbage and I personally will never forgive Axl for killing one of the best bands to exist within the last 30 years.

But Axl's extraordinarily childish behavior drove off the rest of the band as well. Not just Slash. I wouldn't be quite so adamant in the belief that Axl killed the band if Axl's voice were anywhere near as great as it used to be, or if this album wasn't absolute garbage. Unfortunately, neither is true and Guns 'N' Roses ended their final chapter with this disgustingly bad album.

GNR was the only band that slash joined later- snakepit and Velvet Revolver were HIS bands that he started. he hand-picked the frontman both times and then publicly insulted them later after fueding with them always refusing any blame for himself of course.
read his latest Classic Rock interview comparing Scott Weiland to george bush and saying that he couldnt wait till scott was gone.
as for "unrecognizably better", both snakepit and VR were unimpressive and generic to me.
This is no longer the raw rock music that Axl used to deliver us. It's still good but nothing compared with the old days... oh well, better this than nothing, right?

since robin finck wanted to return to NIN there was no choice but to find a replacement. ashba seems to play old school hard rock which is a great fit for GNR's straight-on rock side.

13 out of the 14 songs are co-written with the other band members. their song-writing is an essential part of the album. tommy stinson, chris pittman and dizzy reed have been in the band longer than the original members were. brain mantia, richard fortus have been in GNR for 8 years.

he did. from 2000 to 04 i believe. recorded a lot of the guitar on this album as well. axl went through like 4 or 5 lead guitarists during the time it took to create chinese democracy.
I'm not a GnR fan, but Buckethead's guitar playing makes me love it. I like Axl's singing in this song better than any of their old stuff. I'm not a big fan of Axl's voice, I like more along the lines of Bruce Dickinson and Tom Araya, but overall good song.
The song "Sorry" is imho among one of the best gnr songs out of all time. And there are some few other standout songs, that is among some of UYI I-II stuff. But in the long run chinese democracy fails to deliver. Im sorry, but its not getting any close to AFD ofc, and the Ilussions, imo sorry. Said by a longtime gnr fan^^
considering axl took 12 years and went through god knows how many musicians to make chinese democracy, i wouldnt be too surprised when you dont see any of the same names on the next album.

electronic touches dont make a song "techno" or "pop".
his voice is great on this song and was generally good during the 06-07 tour.
as for the band name he has every right to use it since he owns the name.
as for losing half the band etc, most members of new GNR have held steady for close to a decade. much better record than slash has with his frontmen.

why is it an axl rose solo album?
13 out of the 14 songs are co-written with the other band members. their song-writing is an essential part of the album. tommy stinson, chris pittman and dizzy reed have been in the band longer than the original members were. brain mantia, richard fortus have been in GNR for 8 years.
just because slash and duff arent in the band doesnt mean that it isnt a band.

agreed, chinese democracy was a decent disc but sounds entirely too over produced compared to the old slash n duff gnr.

he did. from 2000 to 04 i believe. recorded a lot of the guitar on this album as well. axl went through like 4 or 5 lead guitarists during the time it took to create chinese democracy.

I'm not a GnR fan, but Buckethead's guitar playing makes me love it. I like Axl's singing in this song better than any of their old stuff. I'm not a big fan of Axl's voice, I like more along the lines of Bruce Dickinson and Tom Araya, but overall good song.

its a good song but its one of the only on this album. that and chinese democracy. but when axl starts screaming in this i lose a little interest.

The song "Sorry" is imho among one of the best gnr songs out of all time. And there are some few other standout songs, that is among some of UYI I-II stuff. But in the long run chinese democracy fails to deliver. Im sorry, but its not getting any close to AFD ofc, and the Ilussions, imo sorry. Said by a longtime gnr fan^^

considering axl took 12 years and went through god knows how many musicians to make chinese democracy, i wouldnt be too surprised when you dont see any of the same names on the next album.
