  • i brought a mk1 1981 fiesta.....and it on the button after sitting on a driveway since 1996...good old fords never die

  • LOL You guys need to watch Davidsfarm.

"A little prime for a good time" is all you need. Put gas into a squeeze bottle, and squirt a little into the carb, THEN try to start.

  • my brothers fiesta mk3 refused to start for a week. it was a clogged air filter. I like the mk1 and 2 best.

  • The carburettor float bowls were probably a bit dry after all those months. The petrol in them probably all evaporated.

  • Hmm, if only my Fiesta would do that so well. Mine is from 89 and its normal gas, and i usually need about 5 minutes to start it in the morning. Its crap though, some major work needs to be done on that thing...

  • Well, we dumped that fiesta in the end... Motor was great, just the floor had a few major rust spots :-(

  • My Opel Rekord started on the first try. it had`nt run for a year. And its a carb

  • You can't compare German cars with cars made in UK ;-)

That is like day and night :-D

  • Wow thats good - if its been sitting for 6 mths! Good engine.

  • Sounds like your gas is a bit crappy or you need to check out your ignition switch ;)

  • Not bad for 6 months and a carb'd engine. My 87 ranger started much quicker though, after almost 3 or 4 years of sitting not running. But she has fuel injection, not a carb.

  • not bad for 6 months

  • That is what I thought. There are new cars that don't even start that well :->
