How much reduction do you have to do.? I would imagine with a 20+" prop you're prob shooting for what, 8-9k rpms... (Trying to remember what my Moki 2.1 was...) Guess I'm asking what rpm the turbine is running when firewalled.
@jesknow i dont know, phil was doing tests with alot of props. 21inch all the way to 24inch. i will ask him the pitch sizes and get back to you. cheers
the turbine is turning a reduction gearbox, the gearbox is feed by a pump from a tank of oil and drains out back to the tank. so prop size is critical, not just for performance but for loading, sometimes a shorter prop with a larger pitch runs better than a larger prop with less pitch. its all trial and testing to find out whats the best combination.
@st200ol yes . phil did fly her sat and sunday. sorry i didnt video flight as my camera batt. was to low to video. i have put photos of raven on NLMFC.co.uk
I am looking forward to the first flight, should be Saturday 14th if weather is OK.
Had problems with the gearbox oil pump, had to fit a speed controller in the system and now is linked up with the throttle, with throttle closed trim up the pump comes on, this is a safe guard to prevent the engine being run without the gearbox pump being switched on.
Details about the aircraft, Unknown Kit, built over 5 years ago, wing span is 96", AUW (Dry) 27lbs. Engine is an SPS Turboprop (Wren 54)

What is the pitch on that prop? Must be a lot since that prop is so short.
