What I cannot appreciate is the Video take of this. It is disgrace, and made it like a typical Bollywood concert. Where Sharukh Khan is trying to gain love from Kaajol. I'm not sure in what part of India Aarti is preached like this.

One needs to change this video and use the same singer, if possible.

Very Interesting about the 5 elements we offer to God through arti.

At my local Temple where Arti is done using Diya, Conchshell filled with water, Flower, Incense, Chammar Whisk. Which represent the 5 elements.

Also the 5 flcikering flames in arti represent the 5 elements.

Yes we do take the aarti in certain ways because we think it will ward off evil eyes and such but that is the wrong way to think, we actually started to take the aarti as so to, take all the 5 elements over our head and ask for their protection for the rest of our lives.

An aarti is not for us to gain benefit, such as warding off evil purposes, it is simply not for us at all. it is towards God..as you explained in sanskrit it means towards God. We r meant to be totally immersed with the feeling of our beliefs when we do aarti, hence at that point the aarti plate becomes more than an aarti plate it begins to resemble the 5 elements and to which effect we can find that we please the one up above and perhaps even call him by our side. That is what an aarti is for.
