...how about doing a BARREL-ROLL for the camera??!!! All these low-passes are getting BORING already. Lets see some BARREL-ROLLS in jumbo jets already.

Hopefully this guy is a "former-pilot" after the management team for the airlines he worked for saw this brazen stunt. I hope he isn't endangering lives and he is sacking groceries somewhere these days.
There is a saying amongst us aviators... "There are no OLD-BOLD pilots..." Old pilots, who retire after decades of flying are the ones with the brains, good sense and experience NOT to do stunts like this...

Thank you, and happy new year to you down there in warmer latitudes.
My father retired with 6 type ratings in jets and he never endangered his passengers or people on the ground like the guy in this video.
In watching this passenger jet, I am reminded of the hot-shot who was doing a similar stunt with a B-52, in Washington, in which he crashed and killed innocent people in the process...
My father's memorial video on my list of videos. Look for the T-6 Texan and click on the picture.
Thank you very much. Well, actually I'm from Holland but I am recvieving my practical training in Portugal.
Yes, Mr Holland was the name of the captain from the B52. Once again I have to agree with you. From the perspective of a viewer its amazing, but as an aviator myself this was way out of limits.
Good job on the vid! Nice to see the old pictures been kept well preserved!
I asked my resources and they told me he had to beg for mercy. I am not sure if he is still working for TAP. I only know he also flew this plane to Brasil where the plane will be scrapped to peaces.
Hope to have aswered your question. Happy Holidays!!
"asked my resources and they told me he had to beg for mercy. I am not sure if he is still working for TAP. I only know he also flew this plane to Brasil where the plane will be scrapped to peaces."
His wingtip seems to have cleared the ground by no more than 10ft. I'm not a pilot but I think this is well within the minimum safety margin. Have just a small gust of wind to make the plane bank a bit more and you're down. The guy in a pilot's uniform in the crowd clearly could not believe his eyes.
Well, I'm not sure what his bosses told him afterwards. Yes, it could easily have been another B52. I suspect he wasn't fully aware how close his wingtip was to the ground during that turn. A reckless stunt.
The B52 crash was probably caused by a genuine pilot error. He simply overbanked the thing and lost all lift, the nose dropped below the horizon, the plane stalled and crashed. This one here is pure idiocy. Way outside any safety rules by a wide margin.
No the crash was because Mr Holland was not stopped for his idiocy. Google him. He was a very high ranked person and nobody deared stopping his arrogance, due to his rank. He crashed it during practice.
Just as you mentioned in your comment.
We had to read the accident-report during ATPL courses.
why dont you come to a modern country to learn safe flying? In a modern country your 'instructor' would be banned and jailed for such a reckless stunt. Obviously he's thick as merda.

After this pass, the pilot was on the intercom to the passengers saying "Next up is the Loop-di-Loop, please fasten your seatbelts."

Yes true. This is indeed very out of limits. I wouldn't dare it. But as a withness, it was simpley staggering!
It could have been an accident as Mr. Holland with the B52 a couple of years ago. Trying to show off and exceeding every limits.
He could have known better, but on the other hand. He is going into history due to this low pass!
itsfiji 4 years ago
Well, I'm not sure what his bosses told him afterwards. Yes, it could easily have been another B52. I suspect he wasn't fully aware how close his wingtip was to the ground during that turn. A reckless stunt.
istvanklein 4 years ago
Very true. It wouldn't suprise me if he was fired.
A reckless stunt indeed, but I couldn't do it.
And again as a withness it was amazing. Eventhough the fact say it is reckless, it was amazing!

Because we have better weather than in the UK. Portugal is very modern. I've read some comments of yours.
I thimk you're a bit out of line with your comments. I can notice by them, you are not a true aviation-fanatic nor a pilot.
So thank you for sharing your arrogance with us!
