Heard of "Big Brothers" for fatherless kids, not on campus, though. But I do recall "mentors" who appeared early in the first year of school, and then vanished. I also saw a "mentor" floating around one of my first franchise jobs, and he likewise vanished. I got better grades than the school mentor, and heard the job mentor got fired. Ever since, I've felt like the crusty old smoker and drinker who kept outliving his much younger doctors. Creepy and confusing at the same time.

Some of the things I did not like about high school was the teachers in Freshman and Senior years. They did not deal with problems, and let people interrupt me or laugh at me. One teacher I had for art class wouldn't let me on the yearbook staff just because she didn't like me. She also acted like my problems were inconsequential. If that woman comes near me again, I swear I'll scream at her.

It sucks how people get bullied because they don't dress with the "expensive in" clothing or people don't talk to certain folks because they will get banished by their social circle. if you aren't talkative or friendly then people interpret that as you thinking you're trying to look important but you really feel defeated inside so you don't feel the need to talk with new people and make friends and that's probably what causes people to think negatively towards certain people.

I had the big sister thing for HS orientation. I would have rather explored the school and stuff on my own, I didn't really, but she never left me and we hung out with her friends.
