1000th viewer, so I must comment. I'm a Samael fan and have been looking into getting an electric violin for awhile. I was searching for a video to show what the NS WAV 4 design sounded like, and I came across this. As far as the violin goes, this video answered my questions.
@friezefrite Meh this was recorded before I got proper analog distortion, through Digitech RP255's shitty dist. effects. Check out my newer vids for better sound quality.
@wreckage06 Wow, as a violin teacher i ahave never seen anyone do that and that's how i know you are bs-ing me. and so what if you've been playing guitar for 1 and a half years and could learn yankee doodle in 5 mins? does that give you the right to go and criticize other people?
fuck you what's your problem? the guy is being helpful and playing grate and that's the best thing you have to say? what talent do you have? jsut sitting in front of a computer and criticizing other people? i'd liket o see you pick up a violin and try and do what he's doing! people like you disgust me. get a life.
Sounds good, man. But kinda curious about the quality of the instrument. I've been looking into getting an electric for a while, since I no longer have my acoustic, and I'm trying to find a good one. Looked into a Zeta and a Yamaha, but thinking something cheaper for my first one. Haha. Would you recommend it the NS WAV 4?
It's on the cheap side, obviously, has its pluses and minuses. I have managed to get a pretty good acoustic tone out of the thing; it looks modern, but feels pretty close to a classic violin, so it's not hard to get used to. For me, it's not all that great on the comfortability side, the chin-rest is too small for me, and the sholderrest isn't always as stable as it should be. On the upside, it's pretty adjustable.
It's also passive, so you'll need something that acts as a preamp (an actual preamp or an effects box etc.). I'd say it's good for the money, but I have nothing to compare it to from my own experience. I'm certainly enjoying it.
I'd recommend the electricviolinshop(dot)com unless you're planning to buy it from a local store, they were very helpful in picking the specific gear for me, which was really nice since I was pretty unsure about what exactly to get.
that's freaking awesome!!!
