While i dont agree with this particular rodeo The rodeos ive been involved in DO NOT allow this kind of behavior...when calf roping, they dont drag the calf on the ground for hundreds of feet "calf surfing". The dont bullshit aroud with stuff like that. Its just doesnt happen
when a horse dies at a jumping event....who makes a big deal of it? Hardly anybody. Even though, yes, horses CAN die at hunter/jumper events....basically any english event. They could fall and break their leg, they could have a heart attack, ANYTHING. Ive been participating in rodeos since i was 5 (im 24 now) and have never seen any animal be abused or die! Of course, some get minor injures (Any pro athlete does too!) So before you wanna knock a rodeo, study up on other horse events too.

As long, as the slaughter is humane and the horses or cattle don't have a terrible journey, I have nothing against it. In Europe horses for slaughter are never longer than two hours on the transport. The US banned horse slaughter, now trailers the horses to Canada but THIS rodeo is legal? That should be declared ILLEGAL. That is worse than horse slaughter

I used to want to go to Cheyenne Frontier days, I mean, I love rodeo. and always will. But it is one of the cruelest rodeos in the states from what I've heard. No matter how big it is I will not go. It is no longer my dream. I will stick with my local rodeos. Who actually DO care about the animals. The video mainly shows steer tripping . which I have never nor will I ever support. Very poorly trained horses in the first half of this video. They are supposed to stop. Not that its much more comfortable for the calf, it's called calf roping, not calf dragging.
I believe in the ladies division they don't even require they stop the calf, they rope it and stop the horse, the rope runs out and there is a little flag on the end of it. Like a penny. Much easier to watch and no baby cow is hurt.

@jarrodc13 We're not documenting drives where animals get away from the herd. We're documenting abuse at rodeos, where calves are in a confined area and the contestants use jerk downs, which are against PRCA rules though unenforced, to get a good time/score to win prizes.

@247scooter but it doesn't have to happen - riding an angry rodeo bull fine, but roping calves and horses is not. It is cruel and inhumane as the animals legs are broken, they are strangled and terrified and in a great deal of pain. We have humane slaughter and stock management practices now. Roping will stop, I can't believe you are oblivious to how cruel it is.

when a horse dies at a jumping event....who makes a big deal of it? Hardly anybody. Even though, yes, horses CAN die at hunter/jumper events....basically any english event. They could fall and break their leg, they could have a heart attack, ANYTHING. Ive been participating in rodeos since i was 5 (im 24 now) and have never seen any animal be abused or die! Of course, some get minor injures (Any pro athlete does too!) So before you wanna knock a rodeo, study up on other horse events too.

And yes it may just be an accident, in some rodeos I guess it is just an accident and nothing more, they do happen. But this? That is abuse, and you should not waste your time defending it. As long, as the slaughter is humane and the horses or cattle don't have a terrible journey, I have nothing against it. In Europe horses for slaughter are never longer than two hours on the transport. The US banned horse slaughter, now trailers the horses to Canada but THIS rodeo is legal? That should be declared ILLEGAL. That is worse than horse slaughter

I used to want to go to Cheyenne Frontier days, I mean, I love rodeo. and always will. But it is one of the cruelest rodeos in the states from what I've heard. No matter how big it is I will not go. It is no longer my dream. I will stick with my local rodeos. Who actually DO care about the animals. The video mainly shows steer tripping . which I have never nor will I ever support. Very poorly trained horses in the first half of this video. They are supposed to stop. Not that its much more comfortable for the calf, it's called calf roping, not calf dragging.
I believe in the ladies division they don't even require they stop the calf, they rope it and stop the horse, the rope runs out and there is a little flag on the end of it. Like a penny. Much easier to watch and no baby cow is hurt.

You could hire Cowboys and pay them to turn their stock out. With $100,000. The price of a small home and a crew of 20 you could shut down most of the rodeos in a year to two on the outside. Just use your own government as your teacher on how to do things. Use collateral damage as your tool. Not public opinion! When I rodeoed I mocked you guys. You had no effect on those coming or going. its not like they do this on purpose.....it just happens and its not all rodeos that have the same types of events so you cant say that all rodeos are abussive so shut you mouth.......its not like they do it to hurt the animal and i have seen some of the other videos and where do you get your info because some of its stupid!!!!!! get over it there not going to stop rodeos just for you leave them alone.....

@247scooter but it doesn't have to happen - riding an angry rodeo bull fine, but roping calves and horses is not. It is cruel and inhumane as the animals legs are broken, they are strangled and terrified and in a great deal of pain. We have humane slaughter and stock management practices now. Roping will stop, I can't believe you are oblivious to how cruel it is.
