  • Hell ya man nice ab, got one just shy of 10" the other day in 10 foot of water, in humboldt county. Haven't had the balls to dive 40ft yet though gets so sharky at that depth up here.

  • @cedwards790 Nah we have the blackfoot variety I've never seen the red abalone obviously they get alot bigger than our ones do and I bet they must taste good too.

  • thats sea ranch but out of my range 40 feet is to deep for me.

  • @crackbackcrackback you don't have to go all the way up to sea ranch to pop tens..grantered they're there but i pulled a 10 1/8 out of russian gultch this past friday

  • @scottyrezable

damn, that's awesome. that shaves off a lot of time and sketchy driving. how was the weather? i moved back down to So-cal and have been out of the loop this year. heading up before thanksgiving though... stoked about that.

    congrats on the 10"+

  • @QMEDbill gultch isn't protected by the northwest swell so it can get sketchy. Been back a few times since but haven't popped any fatties...just spearfishing. I work at bodega bay pro dive so on your way up stop by and we'll shoot the proverbial shit lol

  • @scottyrezable shit, if you've been working there for the past couple of years i'm sure we've already bull shitted a little. i bought my suit (hammerhead) from ur store about 4 years ago. i was part of the cal maritime group of divers that did the weekend warrior thing for a while. you probably know roy, ryan, and brandon and few other guys that head out there.

but yeah, i'll stop by... hopefully this surf dies down before than. :/

  • do you have any tricks to increasing you breath hold, to increase your down time. Also I just switched from a surf suit I had been using for diving to a 7mm and normally I would wear 20 lbs. but this time I used 25lbs and floated like a cork. I weigh about 235 and am 6'-6" any advice would help

  • hey you should check out my web site norcal underwater hunters

  • yup... looks like i've been spotted. sry to the rest of you who i havn't commented back to your questions... it's been a while since i've looked. but yeah, i dive breath holding, and yes that was a ten inch ab measured back on shore. and i would love to tell ya where they are but than i wouldn't have my secret fishing hole. but it was 40 ft down on the sonoma coast. good hunting. and hemhemimakatekobum, you should find your way to the states and grab ur 10" ab. feeds about 4. damn good!

  • billy dick?

  • 10" holy crap thats double the minimum size here in New Zealand. If only we had abalone that size everywhere 1 would be enough for a good feed.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum But are they red ab in New Zeland? or a different species

  • It looks like you wre near sea ranch am I close ?

  • how are u staying down that long if its illegal to dive with a scuba tank?

  • its could free diving a guy can stay under water for 10mins

  • how do you know they were tens did you mesure them ? and where were you diving on the sonoma coast ? please share

  • Damn! Thats sick!

  • sorry but those arn't trophy abs bro

  • i just went this sunday to catch abalone and my dad's freind got a 10"

  • ahhh sonoma county my backyard

  • Stud!

  • Good job dude! I'm looking for my first 10" and my friend Randy is looking for his first 11"er. Opening day was the clearest dive I can remember...but nothing over 9.5".

  • sweet....you going out there this year?

  • Awsome job lucky you I am however still looking for that ten, great job!!
