The transpose to D major is absoloutly amazing, this reflects the romance era when the composers wanted to go against the boring ideals of the classic era, man i love schubert!
Well, of course it is beautiful and Schubert was a genius. On the other hand it was the age of romanticism when it was fashionable to feel sorry for yourself and take a gloomy view of life. Even as I enjoy the music I can't help but be glad that the age of romanticism is over.
@tchebinai71 If you wish you could speak German, go out and buy a teach- yourself-book or enroll in a class. You'll never regret it! Learning German is one of the best things I ever did. It enables me to understand texts of music by Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Bach, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss, Mozart, etc.etc.etc. Go on! Learn German! You can do it! And as I said, you'll never regret it! Churchill said soemthing like: To speak another language is to be another person.
This is a lullaby not a march.

@devonrtucker:
Caspar David Friedrich, "der Mönch am Meer" (the monk at the sea), and I think the previous picture is also from C.D.F (sorry for my bad english).
