  • Yeah, I had the same question signupsigma. I hooked up a box w/o a ground connect & the electrical tester tested + for power, but when I touched it nothing happened. Just to be safe I'll put a grounding screw in the box & set another wire N there to properly ground it.

  • @smrio Yeah I'm a loser for answerin my deal. Just to get it out there I did the following & made sure I used a grd. screw & no more testing + when the tester touches the electrical box. Its perfect.

  • The easiest way to explain a ground wire is that it's like a back up wire incase the other wires aren't working right.

  • Why would electricyt be safe with ground and unsafe wkthout it?

  • how does gruonding work. How does it work to protect you. I don't understand.

  • @signupsigma If a live wire comes in contact with a light fixture, fridge, stove ,etc. that appliance is " hot" if you touch it you will get a shock, and could get hurt.

If you have a ground wire, and a live wire comes in contact w/ the appliance, the fuse/ breaker trips, therefore, no shock. The electricity goes to ground, and not to your heart.
