Great video man, thanks for sharing. This is really cool man, I love historical finds...and I love to see stuff from 1600's etc...What a crazy world...everything wants to be found...
Hey guys I'm loving the videos. Just wanted to give you a word of caution around bails in fields, many a people are killed from bail stacks toppling in winds.
Thank's to you i'm taking up metal detecting, it's so interesting to watch. Just ordered a viking 20 to get my started off with. keep up with the video's please :)
Hi Ron, please ignore the comments by my fellow countryman 'justwilliam73' . If he were to take time and educate himself in your 'short history' I'm sure he will come accross the part when the United States flew daylight bombing raids into Europe against a common foe, ironically from airfields in East Anglia, your search area and my home.
I would sugest this more than entitles you to come over and do what you enjoy doing! and I for one welcome it.
Haha I love your videos! Inspired me to start detecting. Just bought a Tesoro Cibola so I can't wait to get going. Do you do a lot of research on the history of the sites you search? I live in Staffordshire (near to the location in which the Staffordshire hoard was found) so there are plenty of fields to try... Cheers and good luck!
i suppose in a way americans have to go somewhere to detect. i mean what wood there be to find in america? it has the shitest history going. england has proper history spun over many years
Justwilliam: Why don’t you just shut your ignorant mouth? I’m an English detectorist, and have been for nearly 17 years now. I really enjoy the enthusiasm our American friends have for the hobby, especially when they’ve put in a lot of time, money and effort in coming here to enjoy and share in our heritage. Big thumbs up to Chicagoron and his friends for posting up such enjoyable and informative videos.
Interesting that so e English people moan about foreigners taking stuff from when the only reason England has any stuff is because it stole it from others...
reading and wathing your "productive" time in England actualy made me feel like i/we arebeing raped....there should be a LAW to STOP people like you (American) taking stuff back to your no History Country thats why you come here...any history you do have WE English gave you....................................that also goes for all other nations .JUST BOG OFF
@justwilliam73 Thanks for the comment Mate! I have done my share to preserve the history of your country, I have a gold coin in the colchester museum, and am about to donate one of only 2 known 15th century hawking whistles. Members of my team have donated dozens of artifacts to local museums!
@chicagoron61 Well said....ignore stupid small minded pricks like justwilliam......come back anytime...your always welcome on this side of the pond mate....happy hunting
@justwilliam73 how do Egyptians feel about all the 1890's to1950's archeological finds where instead of going to the Cairo museum half the artifacts ended up in private collection"mostly England". last of all be glad anyone can find anything of historical value in your country, in america if anyone finds artifacts prior to 1850's federal law mandates handing it over to because "its a native artifact" basically they take it and put it in a plastic bag then down to the gov. office basements
@justwilliam73 well buy a detector and beat them to it you numpty , these guys do great work pulling out historical treasures that would otherwise be destroyed by farm equipment or left to rot ,it is totally legal for you to do this in America so why should it be any different to these guys
all i can say is keep up the great work you and your team do chicagoron61
also Ron im fairly sure ive seen your wedding ring finds for people ,thats gotta put a lump in your throat yeah ??
@justwilliam73 well it is really really old stuff... technically it belongs to the landowners and these guys get permission from them so it isnt really stealing. no ones going to miss it and there are plenty of fields in the english countryside if you want to go find some yourself?
@justwilliam73 You're worried about America taking your history. LOL Try checking out your culture?...oh wait England is losing it's culture daily..and you're talking about this...rofl

I don't believe for a second that you get export licences for those objects. The saxon strap end and the elizabethan gold coin would be considered objects of national historic importance. They would be unlikely to be granted a licence for removal!!!!!!!
@samtron2000 They are not that rare. A quick check of the UKDFD database will show plenty of similar coins and thats just one database, not including existing collections and those legitimately held but not recorded on UKDFD. 'The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council issues export licences for objects of cultural interest including antiques and works of art. You need an export licence for certain objects of cultural interest that are more than 50 years old and above financial thresholds.'
The coin shown at 11mins (Elizabeth 1st, holed). Was this coin granted an export licence? If so, who aauthorised it and did they first have it declared as treasure?
Just curious what do you do with the coins you find? Do you save them or do you sell them to collectors and what are the est. worth of some of the coins you found on this trip?
From the land of the Bluenose.....it's a shame all the coins don't pop out in pristine shape. Can't wait till my next UK trip this Spet! Nice lot of finds bouys!
i bet these Americans love coming here to the uk to do there hobby..they just dont have the history like we do..but then again they do have gold fields for meatal detecting
@janisleuk Proper export license issued for all find over 50 years old. Our host who has contracts with the farmers does all the export paperwork. Usually takes about 2 to 3 months to get our finds back.
Awesome finds! Can someone tell me if there are silver/gold items that you dont intend to keep but sell what is the first thing you do? Where do u take them to a jeweler ? i wouldnt know. thanks for your videos theyre awesome.
another great video Ron. always fantastic finds. u give us the things to see that other wise most of us wil never. great, just great.. thanks and GOD bless all u Chicago Illinois firemen. take care. JD in south Ar.
Ron, great vid. Do you go out on your own or are you using a metal detecting tour? This fall some club members from the PNW are planning a trip with the WoW.
I just kept saying WOW over and over again! And that gold coin is 70BC???!!! Mannnn and I get excited when I dig up a 1956 penny! Congratulations on a successful expedition.
Excellent Video and hunt ! I love that video and enjoy it very much ! If i ever live long to afford to take a trip over there i will go . Congrats on all the Hammered silver coins, gold coins, jewelry and all your finds. Good luck on your next hunt.
Any single gold coin find is a keeper, If multiple of the same type (over 300 years old) are found on the same field that would be a hoard, then the museum has 1st chance to purchase them.
The gold ring as long as its not more than 300 years old it yours, if more than 300 years old it is declaired treasure and the museum can purchase it.
If anything is purchased the finder and land owner split the amount.
@chicagoron61 Hi Ron-another goodun, your enthusiasm is infectious and your knowledge of medieval coins is quite amazing, what detectors would you recommend for coins, bearing in mind that I live in rural France, mostly woodland with a lot of pasture land and many abandoned houses-what do you and your buddies use?
Many years ago I used a C-scope,I see that they're a bit clumsy compared to modern machines.
@FroggyFagan I use a Minelab SE, and am getting a Minelab e-trac. The learning curve is a little longer tha some of the turn on and go detectors but the depth advantage is well worth it! My deepest coin with the SE is a dime at 11 to 12 inches! Now thats depth!
@chicagoron61 Hi Ron, just to correct you on the last gold coin on this video you found, is not third guineas, it is a half guineas of George III and it's very first head of him, valueted at about £450 to maybe £700 on a good day, but still great find !
@MUDSWAT Thanks mudswat! The watch is silver at least the casing is. Not sure of the age it's still in England awaiting an export license. I will get it when I go back in march. I'll update when i get it back.
Did you sell the stuff you found ?

Excellent video.
One question though, how does such a diverse amount of coins come to be in a field?
I mean some of these coins are centuries apart.
Please forgive my ignorance,I stumbled across this video.
The gold coins are especially captivating, are they solid gold?
