Unfortunately Rome 'Total War' is significantly easier than the total war games after. As soon as you attain Pretoririan Cavalry and heavy onagersmore the game is effectively won. No one can stand the long range might to the heavy onagers and the pure charging power the the elite caverly. But well done nontheless. Now, Medieval 2 becomes slightly more difficult due to the religious factor involved, however once again, if you make the first attack with the equivalent units, the battle is won

@1983davidmurphy actually, you can play as Gaul in Rome total war for hard mode haha. I find the Seleucids to be far more powerful than the roman factions actually. in Medieval 2, I play as the Byzantines and the Spanish.

@johnkerry7 The thing is, Greek cavalry is generally very weak. I find the Seleucid to be so well rounded due to their Cataphracts/Companions/Silver Shields/Legionaires

@effigyoflight true true, but the phalanx pretty much sweeps everything away, even calvary that isnt very good charging a unit of pikes. Idk, ive played with both, i just seemed to have more luck with the greeks when i did, plus the moooooooneys is crazy good. When you have enough money to BUY and enemy city and not have it effect your coffers much, thats money right there lol.

Hey great vid. I'm Romanian too. If you want a tip to help your economy, garrison regions that have no threat but are unhappy with crappy cheap upkeep troops. It's not like u need them to fight or anything. Or if not abandon the city, let it riot, take it over again and exterminate the population, it will make them happy and make you more money.

The slow grind is one of the things that always bugged me about...well, most mods, TBH. In each version of the ExRM (Extended Realism mod, based on this version of RTR but heavily modified), I've tried to fight that in various ways. One of the keys has been the rebalancing of trade income and army costs, so even massive empires can't afford to create full-stack armies of elites. Full-stack battles are relatively rare, even through mid-game, which makes each one count.

I see full stack armies in asia minor and greece. Move them off towards frontiers, downsize your army and fleet, they eating up all your profits. Build economic buildings, like markets, ports, increase taxes where posible. Situation is salvageable.

The source of your problem that you held too much soldiers in your cities. With good economy politics you can stagnate or even rise after a while. First build financially useful buildings the first is the agrarian then the trading then on the sea trading field. One army is required in 1 province. I made my owns for example in Gaul i had 1legion. I used these to keep pace.However you were great conqueror nice game -but play with the surrectum you will learn the building there i'm sure

@Intermedve Thanks mate.I know how to build and keep peace but the sad part is that if even one of my city revolted my game would crash :( so i could only keep peace with games,low taxes, temples and lots of soldiers.If it wouldnt crash the game it would be a lot easier.

@kxr21007 Well the game stops around 14 AD if i remember correct.Thats about 256 turns at least so you will have plenty of time to build on your own paise :)

Actualy  it's from 270 BC to AD 14.And it will give you 320 turns :)

Yes the mod makes the map much larger and difficult.

After you download the mod you have to have Rome Total War in version 1.5.Then just install it and it will work.If you have any problems dont hesitate to contact me :)
