I love Rossetti's art-- he really loved women and that showed in his beautiful paintings. We had a special exhibit of them at a local museum--just outstanding. Thank you for this video--what a great pair--Rossetti art with Lakme music...
Yes, the music goes well with the paintings. One must remember that Rossetti used to associate pièces of art belonging to different branches of art. For example, poetry and painting, think of the painting "The blessed Damozel" and the poem he wrote with the same title. There are a lot of other examples in DGR's work.
A very interesting thing about this song, and the reason I think it is one of the most perfect songs, is that it is so haunting and hypnotic. It just has an effect on you that makes you want to hear it. My sister and I just heard about two seconds of it and had to hear the rest, and all these people saying they heard it in True Romance and fell in love with it. It really is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful songs ever written.
Oh, I love this artist so much and have seen his beautiful work in several exhibitions. And to the beautiful Flower Duet music composition....you can't get much better than beautiful music and art together, like this.
It might be bad of me, this being a very touching song, but everytime I hear it I think of the scene in True Romance with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken..
Highly imaginative video with lyrics, superb colourist D.G. Rossetti, and the sopranos here are beyond compare, of course! Is this Joan Sutherland singing, and ... ?
très beau.

The only Pre-Raphaelite painter who gave contributions to art. Especially in the portraits of Jane Morris.

Wonderful singers.
Moreover, I like Pre-raphaelites (especially Millais, but also Rossetti).

I've never seen an opera, neither have I heard much. But this will definately change.
I've just been looking for HOURS (!!) to find this masterpiece, after hearing it in an flashback episode of "Alias".
I'm so glad I finally managed to find this song!
I'm astonished, intrigued and almost like in love. It's simply the most duet I've ever heard in my whole yet so short life!
5/5 * of course and a place of honour in my favourites list :)
Thank you for sharing this beauty!

It's nothing to be ashamed of. The reason I looked up this piece is because I saw film True Romance and liked it very much.
