  • @robc45 Rob, the difference is putting some low-paid mistreated worker in China through hell to save money. Apple is getting nailed for this right now, read the articles and then hope you're OK making money in spite of others. I'll choose a US company over supporting slave labor.

  • Why do they paint the lip around the top of the cheeks? It looks like they have gone to some trouble to do the machining bedrock style and by appearance it looks tidy. But the lip running around the top of the casting on both sides is painted like it is on cheap planes.

It would be nice if all of the modern planemakers, chinese or US would use a knurl with some taste on the depth adjustment wheel. All of them, LN, woodriver, or whatever, have very corporate cost-cut looking depth adjusters.

  • Looks like a Quangsheng plane with a different lever cap to me. not bad planes really.

  • A little extra? try double. Your US made tools is made on Chinese CNC machines and grinders, sorry but I dont see a big difference. Buy Woodriver from US company that employs US folk around the country. Have a problem, return it to the store, replace, or refund. With what you save you can buy a lot more wood and another plane. See the last two issues of FWW for reviews! Your money, you decide, this is about options.

  • @robc45 it may be a Chinese CNC at Lie Nielsen but it's an American worker operating it.. to me that's worth something even though I'm not an American.. I see nothing wrong with these planes, and they probably are more bang for each dollar but.. there's more to life than a dollar..

  • Rob was a rep for Lie-Nielsen ,what happened? A fallout? Spend just a little extra and buy a tool made in the USA by skilled craftsman who care about their product and have impeccable customer service. Not some Chinese knockoff that you will have to deal with if there is a problem. Then what? I have NO affiliation with Lie Nielsen, just a happy customer.

  • @robmill54 Says at the end he was compensated by Woodcraft to help with the development of these, makes sense he would promote these over others.

  • lol rob cosman is at it again, good on ya

  • Who and where are they made ?

  • @budnotu they are made in China
