  • I am 14 years of age, and this is music. Not the stuff my age group hears today. Don't get mer wrong, I like the music of his age, but only a small amount. I'm glad I have discovered these guys today. " The Ink Spots " are now a new addition to my list of wonderful music.

  • You dont need to be an older person to enjoy this. You just need a great sense of what good music is.

  • Yes, I was around when the "ink spots" were around and stealing our hearts with their crystal clear voices and deep melodies. Thank you for uploading.

    Mervyn, aged 79.

  • since 1948 and i still love there music

  • question, i've noticed that the ink spots use the same bass riff in most of their songs...or am i totally off?

  • @kornkid22 No It's true, I've listened to their 'greatest hits' and almost half of them use the same riff

  • @kornkid22

its not in every single song

    but its in most :P

and its not bass its guitar :P

  • This is, of course, great, but listen to Benny Goodman doing "Sing, sing, sing" in 1938 or 1939

  • Anybody know the Ink Spot's song the Fred Sanford use to sing all the time. He'd always start off by saying "And how could I be sure". Let me know please. thanx

  • I'm 18 myself, this is absolutely the best music in american history. This music actually has significant meaning. The Ink Spots are by far my favorite group to date. I am also impressed to see even a younger generation that myself finding a joy in this type of music. It is a nice thing to see the youth of the nation listening to this kind of thing, and not just the music you hear today on the radio. We as Americans need to keep this alive, it is our history!!

  • i am from the netherlands And my grandpa died 4 years ago and this was his favorite band and music song. We also let it playing in the church for him on his funeral. Always when i listen to this song i see him sitting in his chair in the living room with a newspaper. It is nice to find this song here.

  • 19 years old and I enjoy this music. I did not listen to much music till I heard the Ink spots. The music today do not have this quality and I wish I could have been around when they were still alive.

  • Im 14 and im straight:) and i like this music. so i say..real and straight!! because this is definetly not fake and gay

  • I am 15 and WHO CARES. Yes, obviously this and most music up to about the late '90s was the only real music to exist, to date.

  • Un-Comparable !! We , Don't get to see , such Talent these days !!!

  • You're SO right. Most of today's music is RAP... I mean, CRAP. Oh, same thing.

  • I think it is really nice to have comments from 15 to 19 year olds that appreciate this kind of music, I used to think all young people were boom boom boom listeners but now know that its the record companies that have nothing else to offer the younger generation except rubbish. Thanks to you tube they are able to make their own mind up about music instead of record companies doing it for them. if anyone doesn't mind german lyrics listen to Marta Egarth singing Shuberts standchen.

  • im 19 and i am now in my own dream world

  • I believe this is the original, recorded in 1939. Also recorded and made popular again in '56 by the Platters. :o) Thanx for posting

  • wow!! nothing else to say.....

  • I swear if past lives are real, I lived during this time. I know it sounds stupid but I feel a connection to the music and the time period

  • Fantastic composition, absolute musical value, and I can't think of a single song that came out recently that is even close to the exterior of this masterpiece.

  • I think this band is by far the best there ever was

  • well said young sheldonlt .

  • I hate to say that I was only introduced with the release of fallout 3. But, I'm still so glad that I found them, in any sense.

They've opened my eyes to a genre that (surprisingly) I've never heard.

  • Such a great version of this song, people don't sing like this anymore

  • i'm 18 years and love this music. today music sucks

  • @XxMajorHaddenxX you discover the past ... for it is the future!

be your self and like what you want not what the media want you to very well done

  • la potrei ascoltare 1000 volte in questa versione, grazie!

  • I've always enjoyed the Ink Spots. I agree with so many; a class act.

  • I was brought up on The Inkspots, and those opening chords still send shivers down my spine!

  • Greatest music ever, very classy group! My all time fav. I remember them well, Thanks!

  • I am 18 and this music is so much better than most stuff out today.

  • @sheldonlt

I'm 17 and I completely feel the same way.

  • @sheldonlt Agreed, 17.

  • @sheldonlt I'm 15 and I agree.

  • has a prettier song ever been played

  • love it!

    -13 yr old Jenny

  • Good rendition, but I like Tony Williams' voice and style better.

  • I love this song. Thanks!!

  • I love them. End of story =)

  • Now to tell the truth i used to be a little weirded out by my liking for this music (considering my age) but now i accept gladly that i'm not as ignorant as people that listen to rap and other things i very much appreciate this music and i'm happy and wish we could somehow revive such great music

  • @abc123boom45 we should start a band :D

  • 0:36 "...is a Rapture"

  • Malcolm X..

  • All the comments on this page just prove how good music will span any generational wall. (Twenty-one here)

  • i wish music was still like this, now days the music sounds like crap.

(i am a teenager and i like this)

  • This sure takes me back when i sang this to my girlfriend during a talent show. she didn't stop smiling for days.

  • I looove this song! I wish music was still like that!

  • @cherrychely music is still like this, you just have to know where to start looking ;) people like you and me keeps spirits like the Ink Spots, Bing Crosby, Hank Williams etc alive with our passion for classics that can never, and will never, be replaced.

  • I dont usually say this kind of things but.. hey! I'm 16 and I rather listen to this than many of the music that everybody listens to nowdays :D

  • Ahhhh. That sure is legitimate. I'm 23, is something wrong with me? I don't listen to mainstream music at all.

  • @Malleolust

You're a minority, like all the young people here on this page(me too,18)

  • @Malleolust dude i'm 15 and the Ink Spots are my favorite music group, i assure you there isn't anything wrong with liking the musical stylings of legends.

  • Classic!

  • Beautiful, Thank You

  • this music is beautiful, harmonic, and touching and i cant thank you enough for posting a such a masterpiece of a song to help save the world of music. you have done a great thing.

  • Spasibo bol'shoye, Dlya vseh teh, kto lyubit. (Thanks alot, for all those who love.)

  • thanks for posting this song. never get tired of listening to different interpreters

  • This is beauty....

  • There are no words to describe this song.

    And I have a fuck-huge vocabulary.

  • I love the chord progressions found in Ink spots songs. So melodious... So filling me with nostalgia--and happiness for all those bygone days when music had a special feel to it. Vin Smith

  • First doo wop song ever

  • I'm so tired of people complaining about how music now is trash and good music is dead.

  • This is much better than Rap Crap this is real Black music

  • @Death2Bieber92 Hey there is respectable hip hop, you just have to look for it

  • @HonduranGoat I think he means not only that but also he prefers people singing, than dudes talking really fast.

  • @DarkHunter173 Well if you knew what you were talking about you would realize rapping isnt simply just talking, like screamo isnt simply yelling as loud as you can

  • why do all their song start the same?

  • @norsolid

    It's like a gimmick ;P

That's how we will remember them.

  • This song came in third on the US Charts when it was released, which is amazing considering the "Ink" part... Amazing music...

  • Oustanding; nothing less....

  • great song i love it lily johnson74

  • oh wow, the ending is just beautiful! They don't make songs like that, that good now days! Ink Spots were my mothers fav.

  • all their songs start the same. cool style

  • God, I love this song, and I love this group. Thanks for posting.

  • This song is so beautiful,,for ALL ages..TIMELESS

  • This is what you call a voice. 1930s-60s that is when the voices were really golden and full of soul.

  • Were lucky to be able to hear these songs! This is pure art and pure emotion.Music is all we got left from the good old days

  • I LOVE ,LOVE this music

  • It was 1977 We were on our way to NIagra Falls for our honeymoon. The Marquis read "The INK SPOTS" She had never heard of them but I was thrilled. We were thee for the 11PM show and no one was there. They came out and I felt terrible as they got ready I went to the stage and told them Hey guys you're the ink spots you dont have to play for just us. They smiled and assured me that the earlier show was well attended and they played an entire set for us. After the show we talked. Class act

  • @danksta8toes Thank you for sharing you story. I am 16 and I enjoy listening to the Ink Spot and because of your tale I enjoy them even more.

    :')

    From your Friend: Dragon.

  • Wow really? ....... Thank goodness the internet police are here

  • Wow really? .......

  • thumbs up if fallout 3 made you like this type of music (i always liked this music)

  • I've always worshipped the Platters version of this song. I see that this version may be slightly different style wise, but it is just as good. Thank you for posting this beautiful version of one of the all time great songs.

  • God damn, isn't this just the best damn music to drink to, Heh and I shouldn't even have to mention bud, that is pretty much a given.

  • thank you for posting this.i loved it.....

  • To think musics like these were considered the "Devil's Music" back in those days by many. Nowadays, our grandmas and grandpas think the current pop music is the "Devil's Music". Surely in a few generations later, i bet songs like Lady Gaga's and Kanye West will be considered "classics" like we consider the Ink Spots'. How time changes the world

  • @KakuKachoO Before Lady GaGa and Kanye are ever considered "classics" I hope someone nukes the shit out of the Earth, seriously. Those two asstards you mentioned can't even come CLOSE to what we condider classics now. Modern music is a science, not an art. A team of pros write the songs for a pretty face and they call them "artists". BULLSHIT!

  • @ak47fucka Of course, you say that because you live in this era. I'm sure many back in those days said the same thing about Ink Spots and look how popular these songs have become as to be called "classics" You can never tell how the world may change in a few generations. OF course, I myself don't like Lady Gaga or Kanye much either.

  • @KakuKachoO I don't really know if this would have been considered "Devil's Music"- though some people would have disapproved perhaps because the Ink Spots were black. "My Prayer" isn't like "The Little Wooden Whistle Wouldn't Whistle", "She Had To Go And Lose It At The Astor", or "My Girl's Pussy"; which all would have been shocking for listening audiences.

  • I'm 15 years old, and although I was introduced to this through a video game. I have become more than addicted. I LOVE stuff like this, it's so much calmer than the stuff most of us listen to today. It's soothing, beautiful. Appreciate it.

  • @aGirlaMonkeyaLegend i love this music 2 im 15 but no1 apreciates this type of music anymore

    like if u agree

  • @Xanth100 same with me im 13

  • @aGirlaMonkeyaLegend hehe, same.

  • When I listen to The Inkspots, especially this song, I feel happy and uplifted in emotion, great music and forever it should live on

  • Between Fallout 3 and Mafia II, I can't get enough of this music.

  • Why doesn't somebody make a series of great arti8sit, it would be much better than that rubbish coronation street and all the other fairy story soaps. Let's see some honest to goodness great music.

  • Reading the comments from the younger generation l reckon the music of my day is in safe hands and to me,that's comforting.

  • @crankbv1 Worry not... good music, music which speaks to the heart, will always live on, reardless of age and nationality.

  • This right here is music. Im 18 and i can appreciate this beautiful song, why cant the other Neanderthals?

  • What means "Devine"?

Anyone can tell me any synonymous or something? thanks.

  • @nazoep divine, he is singing. I hope this is a master troll.

  • @HappeningMole

No, i just searched the lyrics on internet and i didn't know that "devine" was "divine"

    Thanks

  • You know what I like about Ink Spots, the first 3 seconds of their songs are the same notes, lol.

  • haha every song has a little intro riff, a tenor part, then the bass repeating the lyrics in really soothing voice, then the tenor again

how does it not get old?

  • @rodekill27 its jsut because they made music so much better its a song that has a golden voice people dont understand its all about haveing a crisp golden voice

  • thay are verry good any time dont mind wot year it is great music not like the music to day

  • This was when music was written and performed with imagination and talent , not like todays mindless trash that isnt really music at all.

  • @ivorystroker i completely agree, thankfully if you are a fan of video games fallout is keeping this music alive, i wish there was more of this stuff around

  • @ivorystroker Bithc's got my mother fucking money hoe sluts...genuis.

  • @falloutfacts < this kind of response only proves my earlier post regarding " mindless " and "trash" in the same sentence !

  • @ivorystroker Sarcasm...

  • INK SPOTS ARE THE BALLZ!

  • Thank you FallOut 3, otherwise I would have only thought that the Platters had ever song this song. The lead singer's range is beyond amazing.

  • Would make a great addition to a Fallout game.

  • i'm not racist but i thought they was white causet hey sound it

  • @devoidfrog

    Same here :F

  • My prayer is that i'll wake up and have done something great. That people will be safe and I won't have to worry about this world. And that I find the girl of my dreams and make her the happiest person on Earth. That i'll die a legend. Now that i've prayed i'm gonna go do it. Bless you all.

  • Always thought the Platters originated this song until learning, just the other night, these gents beat them by about 17 years. This, too, is lovely.

  • I love this song, 'my prayer is a rapture in blue, with the world far away and your lips close to mine'...

  • I heard this on the Benjamin Button movie and it came at such a perfect time that it took my breath away!

  • My mother, loved the Ink Spots. I remember going to a radio station with her when I was young, where they were appearing. I'm 73 years old and I still love their, music.

  • @Hchank1200 73 years old on youtube.. yeah right

  • @flightoftheshortguy my grandpa is 75 and also sometimes uses youtube is that so stange?

  • @flightoftheshortguy You didn't think that youtube was for children only did you?

There are many of us not only using the internet but bloging too. What do you think you'll be doing when you reach the autum of your years?

  • @Hchank1200 Cool. Good times for you I suppose.

  • @Hchank1200 73!,.. really? god bless you sir.!

  • @Hchank1200

man your so lucky you got to live with this great music

all i got is the crap they make nowadays

  • @Hchank1200 Wow....I didn't know that the Platters sang so many of the Ink Spots originally sang. Were the "Spots" as famous as the Mills brothers and their dad?

  • @Hchank1200 Wow....I didn't know that the Platters sang so many of the Ink Spots originally sang. Were the "Spots" as famous as the Mills brothers who were actually comprised of three brothers and their dad.

  • @ekocentric

Yes, the Spots were ''as big as Jesus'' ;)

  • @mikemoos As much as I love music and have had enough decades to enjoy it I had never heard of them or their music until Redd Foxx started singing it on Sanford and Son. I'm glad that he sang "If I didn't care" because it encouraged me to call the K-Earth Fm in L.A. to ask the D.J. to play the Inkspots on numerous occasions.

  • @Hchank1200 AMEN to you...I love there music so much, back when you HAD to have talent, and not computerized touch ups...so nostalgic I used to use my Gramma's victrola to listen to these.Gives me such a warm loving feel in my heart, I miss her so, this brings her back to me thank you for posting.

  • @Hchank1200 My dad who is sadly no longer with us...fancied himself as a crooner and had a good voice...he used to love singing these old songs..and it always made him appear as if he was in a dream world..and i can say that the liking for this type of music rubbed off on me. god bless you dad xxx

  • @loonylinda We grew up with the Ink Spots!! My Dad Loved Them and all of his kids carry it on... ;-)

  • @loonylinda youre little story sounds just like mine?? :0)...my dad was just the same!

  • @loonylinda My father sung that song to me once. He also loved The Mills Brothers very much. somehow listening to this remind me of him; he has passed to.

  • @loonylinda amen me too i love this music

  • @1ampixie mee too, so much so i wish the music of today could come close to this music, but we are never to hear music of this calibur sadley to say. I used to listen to music on my granddmas victrola and knew tthis was so special.I miss those times so much

  • @loonylinda Sad story bro... R.I.P

  • @loonylinda

    May he rest in peace.

And indeed this kind of music does make you feel like you are in a dream world..

  • @loonylind the ink spots sure do have a great way for letting him rest in peace:)

  • This Band was my Mother's Favourite' My Daughter and I are try to do what (Maxkauf's) doing; keeping it alive!

  • This song is the most!

  • I first heard this great song during the film Malcolm X. It is and will always remain a timeless classic.

  • As I get older (25 now) I view great songs as Ghostly echos of a past I was lucky enough to be connected to through my parents and my grandparents. As the generations that got to hear this music dies out and the boomers grow older its up to my generation to hand this music down. My children will be humming this song the second they are able to carry a tune.

  • @maxkauf

    Amen maxkauf Amen

  • @maxkauf

Good for youmaxkauf. That's a noble quest and it will be rewarding and rewarded

  • @maxkauf A friend of mine named "Three Dog" play's these guys on his radio station!

  • @ipwinyou fallout 3 is awesome but its "i don't wanna set the world on fire" he plays on the radio

  • @maxkauf What if they don't have the same musical tastes

  • wow, I would use this forn the closing credits to heavy rain

  • The Inkspots were a very good band. This is good music. I don't like what we have now.

  • @lordbrixo however, that's not to say there's no good music anymore.we still have good bands out there, just that for the majority, yes the music did die.

  • Awwww...now how is this? Ya know? THIS is Art!! As were/are The Platters and The Beatles. :D

  • music industry fucked it all up :(

  • Classical Classics.. respect

  • i like old time music more than the music now

  • I use to listen to the Ink Spots for hours on 78! One of the Greatest All Time Groups!

I liked the taling in the middle!

The Lead singer has a outstanding Voice!

  • I use to listen to Ink Spots songs for hours on 78! One of the Greatest All Time Groups! I like the talking in the middle! The guy doing it was great! The lead siger was outstanding!

  • I didn't know that this song was popular in 1939!!! I know that the Platters did the song in the 1950's... The original is beautiful...

  • everu song starts the same EXACTLY THE SAME

  • @monstertunk Yes, but each piece of music is Unique in its own way, and you gotta love that beingging tune.

  • For more then 50 years I think the Ink Spots are awesome. I love every song they sing with those mellow, smooth voices. Can it get any better??? I don't think so....

Thanks for posting those GREAT Masters....
