The only thing I didn't like about the movie was how Candy actually acted like a typical prostitute.. In the book she seemed so much more down to earth and I think that's more realistic.

The thing about Ratchett (and what you may understand better if you read the book) was that she had no intent of helping the men in the institution. She was a manipulator, control-freak, sadist, and just plain cruel. She excercised her control over the man with various forms of humiliation and the removal of their identities. Very likely a form of textboot sociopath or the like. What's sad is that many people in such higher positions are just the same, believe me.

Continues to be the masterpiece it is. Very moving series of scenes at the end. I find the good byes to be very touching. Somewhatt reminicent of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy say's good bye to her friends. I always have thought about this comparision, Good byes are always difficult for me.
