just amazing, how smart, and how can SO MANY PEOPLE in the world today not see this, and realize how much danger these amazing species are in of becoming extinct. More MUST be done, it just must..
She didnt take it personal, shes faking/exagerating to teach a lesson, same thing you do with dogs... they have to learn that they did something wrong
@ireallyloveericlyons Well not exactly....Humans behave like humans do, but they are still punished? Bonobo's are no different than humans, they can be punished too, but not abused, humans shouldn't be abused either.
@ireallyloveericlyons THESE bonobo's were BORN here. They look happy to me. Plus places like this offer PROTECTION for the bonobo species, cause my species can't seem to quit the evil and put the guns away.
She took it a little personally, I feel. I saw the chimp in the researcher here. Captain Ahab was driven crazy by anthropomorphising a whale, expecting human behaviour when the whale was just being a whale. It is like the scorpion who rode on the tigers back to cross the river, half way across the scorpion stung the tiger and before they both drowned the tiger asked "Why did you sting me?" to which the scorpion replied "Because I'm a scorpion."
@jacksawild I don't think that's what went on at all. You have to understand that Bonobos or chimpanzees act as the researcher did when they are in the wild. If they get angry they will be loud and a lot more physical than the researcher was. If the researcher simply said or shouted to Tamuli, "Tamuli that bad. Don't do that again!" it wouldn't make any sense to him because he doesn't understand language or human body language. The way she acted was much more intuitive to Tamuli.
@sinovera I can see your logic but I still have to disagree. I think getting angry puts the researcher in danger of escalating an already dangerous situation.
@jacksawild I'm sure Sue very well knows the boundaries of acceptable behaviour, knows what to expect from Kanzi and corrects her actions having that in mind. Also remember that the bonobo society is a matriarchy so it's Sue who must act, not Kanzi. And if she doesn't "punish" that member of society for aggression, *then* the situation will grow more dangerous as the aggressor will try to establish a higher place in the hierarchy. Well, that's how I understand this.
Everyone touched by this fascinating documentry must do all they can to raise awareness of the loss of habitat and poaching that is threatening this beautiful species..
@Staplesz esp the part where kanzi who has such a good understanding of speech is trying in vain to help Tamuli who has no such understanding, to follow Sues directives and Tamuli want to, but cannot. Kanzi want so much to help her and he can't help her..for all of the ppl out there who doubt the result of Dr Sues studies esp, I would point to this video clip in particular to show that they can and have acquired ability to understand and interact!
@Staplesz yea especialy if you think about that ppl are able to kill them for no reason. I mean without monkeys there wouldn't be any human .. they do not have respect those ppl :(

They *are* people, they just aren't *human* people. Humans are the ones lacking in intelligence for not realising that.

Kanzi is a delight! & he may possess types of intellect that we cannot yet measure.
My regards to Dr. Savage -Rumbaugh & her team of researchers & those who helped fund this project. Thank you from my heart.

This researcher took it a bit too personally. The bonobo is just behaving like a bonobo does.
