I worked for DOD and we could NEVER accept not even a $5 gift from anyone that did business with the government; we trained annually on appropriate ethics behavior. It does not matter how much the politicians took in gifts or special favors, just that it is unethical and they do not belong in office for these actions. End of story. They should be held accountable just as an ordinary 'Joe' working for an hourly wage.
