  • Damned hippies! LOL!

  • Then just try to do it.

  • i am unable to see the genious. its more like a bunch of failed rhythms laid end on end than a "song" if i may call it. that can anyone explain this to me?

  • is it my idea or did corea just school herbie? even though herbie is amazon as well

  • PARA LA EPOCA NO ES NOVEDOSO.... ES UNA COPIA DE CRUMB

  • He makes the piano sound like congas....

  • SHHHH! stop clapping! stop it!! damn it!!

  • Lol what was he smoking....good question...pot? tobacco? =) who cares the performance was great and It's a new amazing creativity they bring in piano playin.

  • That's amazing creativity.

  • this sounds like a really quiet construction site until 2:45

  • Clap fail 4:10

  • impressive that genius rhytmes

  • afrobeat... eita tony allen aí.

  • what are they doing?

  • No podemos pasar por alto tal cantidad de creatividad!!!!!!

  • Dad, for you.

  • damn, If I was there Id be clapping my ass off haha.

  • haaah! amazing :)

  • 3.25-onwards... what kids would call 'techno'

  • Hey, I thought Chick would playing piano, not drums! hahahha this is the way every instrument should be played, freely.

  • This is cool stuff, but all I have to say is WHERE IS THE REST OF THE CONCERT !!!? I have the double album they recorded on this tour and it is absolutely brilliant. Would so love to see a concert dvd of this. Their version of La Fiesta is transcendent!

  • That was amazing never seen a piano used in that way

  • AWESOME MY BOLS!!

  • What was Chick smoking coming from backstage at the beginning of the clip?...LOL

  • that purp.

  • Apparently if you snap one of the longer piano strings, the amount of tension mixed with the metal of the string could easily take an arm off.. i must admit finding the start frightening to watch.. brilliant video

  • Piano is a COMPLETE instrument. And if you want to PLAY MUSIC in any kind of way that the SOUND be better... you can do it. Open your minds to a new reality. Broke your paradigmas.

  • great attitude! :-)

  • you are very idealist, because this is new, doesnt mean is better, or good, i think, there are a lot of classical instrument for make really exactly the same sound, and song, i think the piano is not for that sound, (maybe guitar or drums) for make a new music and broke thats paradigmas(by Kant) they forgeted the really sound and use of the piano.(haha), y bien ahora que me respondes al respecto, pues este comentario es solo para hacerte la contra, spitze und auf widersehen. bitte.voce, y mdreia

  • @tuzo2010 exactly .... i love this concept .. take any instrument and do things on there you have never imagined .. creativity is the key !

  • Incredible. Shows how much command they have over the entire piano, not just the keyboard. Not to mention the on-point and fun rhythm.

  • I saw Chick Corea doing that live twice, and it was simply AMAZING. Every time I see him doing it I marvel at his genius. I would love to see him with Herbie Hancock.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • ... and while we're at it lets all burn pianos and go back to Celestes and Harpsichords... :-P

  • @orangefunk

I look at the word 'suppose' and begin to laugh ;)

    English is cool!

  • @orangefunk keleketek obviously has not heard Chick play drums. Yeah. He IS a percussionist in every meaning of the word. For that matter, Piano is technically a percussion instrument.

  • Comment removed

  • by the way, Chick Corea is also a percussionist, and can play drums, percussion, and vibraphones well.

  • @keleketek I guess you wouldn't like Andy McKee, either...

  • @keleketek Obviously, you're not a golfer.

  • @keleketek piano is a percussion instrument

  • @keleketek This is the jazz section btw

  • Bach and Beethoven are rolling in their graves with Chick beating on the piano and plucking strings like that. Just kidding. I am sure they would have dug this stuff. Guitarist can make the same sounds also.

  • Around late 80s (or early 90s) I saw this duo in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The performance in this video is the same of that, like "escola de samba" of Rio de Janeiro during carnival.

  • 2 legends met !!!! COOOOLLLLL

  • Grat! Last week, I saw Chick and Herbie together live in Dormund. they're two living legends!

  • goddam!!!!!!!!!!

    that shit is funky tight!

  • Personally not a big fan of piano string plucking, it doesnt even sound like anything... It does sound pretty cool when they play the keys while dampening the strings manually however.

  • Where's Airto whenyou need him...oh yeah, he's still looking at Miles Shoes....those beautiful shoes....

  • Herbie and Chick are the greatest genius on earth

  • great stuff

  • SO AWESOME!!!! SHOOOOOX....

  • this hip hop

  • I guess that's what i'd call a muted piano :D

  • The piano is most definitely a percussion instrument

And Chick and Herbie are definitely music brothers

  • Holy shit, holy fuckin shit...

  • this is a sick groove

  • Great, the muted strings ostinato part is great, is sounds like a sort of arp2600 sequence. Very nice performing.

  • Gosh Miles could pick em!!!

  • And he pick 'em, right on the stage, and fling them into the front row, when he didn't just press one nostril and shoot the sucker out the other onto the front row.

  • Wow! How original!

  • holy shit.... thank you for posting this. I have be enthralled with these recordings for years.

  • Super

  • son dos genios pero aqui son un poco rolleros.

  • i dont think this guy has a CLUE as to what hes doing...

hes just hitting random crap with his hands :P lmao

and yes of course im joking... :P

sorry if i offended anyone :P

  • increibleee bufff

  • holy crap!! now that is just showing off.

  • Love this avant got-a-clue vibe.. I saw these guys.. Boston Symphony Hall, around this time.. Best concert ever, besides Keith Jarrett with Jan Garbarek..

  • I love it when Chick reaches inside and messes with the strings... I saw him play in March 2006 in Oklahoma and he did this at one point during a duet with kalimba. I was ecstatic. He does this in a very avant-garde, even Cage-ian manner on some of his late 60s/early 70s recordings (my favorite being his appearance on Marion Brown's Afternoon of a Georgia Faun), but also in a much more rhythmic way on later pieces like "The Hilltop" from My Spanish Heart. This is closer to the latter

  • Saw the show in Denver "78. I thought the old dude in front of me was passing out...nope, just leaning forward to pull out his horn... & join in. IT WAS DIZ!!! I damn near passed out!

  • oh yeah they are amazing, i wanna see more of the full video, I WANNA MORE OF THIS!! thanks orangefunk

  • I remember seeing them when they did this tour. They played some totally unexpected jams like this as well as some awesome jazz tunes. Thanks for bringing back memories.
