For video production the Canon 7D reproduces more options (60/50, 25 fps ect) than the 5D (30fps) and the 7d having a smaller sensor is a bit easier to match in with video from a camcorder as camcorder sensors are smaller too! The 5D video has been said to have a "slightly' more film like look. Both have excellent reviews. If you put some video in between from a video camera next time and set the focus, white balance etc properly on all cameras it would be very useful comparison.

the full frame 5D obviously has nicer video and pics. nicer depth and better more accurate color. but the 7D is packed with amazing features. and i mean Packed. not to mention a more durable/weather sealed body than the 5D. and for a much cheaper price. both are great cameras. i just want a 5D full frame with 7D features. heres to hoping the 5D mark III will be just that.

Not saying that either one is better but since they´re obviously not on tripods I find it highly unlikely that you got that exact same film with both cameras? My conclusion is that one of the videos in the side-by-side has been tampered with..

AF system doesn't matter, because the videomode doesn't support autofocus. It is a pointless comparison of different crop camera's, I don't know what they were trying to prove here. The 5D mkII is without a doubt the better camera here with its fullframe sensor. The 7D, mind you, is not badly build either, but low noise performance and video is not as good. If you don't mind the buildquality just get a 550D (T2i) or the 600D (T3i). That last one and the 60D have a neat tilty swivly screen.

the 5D only has a 9-point AF system which may have something to do with why it is out of focus most of the time. (7D has 20+ IIRC don't quote me on that)

Also, 5D has a full frame sensor, so even if you use the same lens on each camera, the 7D is going to be more "zoomed in" by default as it has a lens factor to deal with. This comparison is sound, just not very exact in its nature. Get your facts right people...

The 7D is better right now if you want to shoot a movie. The 5D is better for still photography. The reason for this, is that the 5D outputs standard resolution onto the monitor, which makes it hard to focus on objects. The 7D outputs high def onto the monitor, allowing you to make sure your actors or objects are properly focused.

is this a joke? If you are going to compare it, atleast do it with equal conditions. Same lens, filming at the same speed etc. The mark II was out of focus. But from what ive seen the vid quality are pretty much equal. It should come down to what people like in taking stills. 5D is full frame, 7D have 1.6 crop. I personally love Full Frame, but if i wasint intressted in full frame i would gone for a 7D no question about it. Both great cameras, just full frame or not? Your choice :)
