I find dutting to be very annoying especially when its loud. Completely ruins the music. They count soft which is how it should be done, No one needs to hear the drumline count- they're freakin drummers they should be able to keep good time.
@joerules03 I'd bet they can all keep good time, but when you need 9 players to hit an entrance within 1/128 of a second of each other good time just doesn't cut it.
they do in a sense dut but they actually count the numbers instead of saying dut so instead of dut dut dut dut, they say 1 2 3 4, not that its wrong but I just don't like it
hmm, I marched my first DCI tour this summer and we used a combination of both duts and counting, we did it according to what the music was asking of us and the amount of space between entrances
I really like what I hear actually. As a future prospect for the Reading Buccaneers, specifically percussion, I'm liking the nice groove their laying down for the brass.
Yeah. Rumor has it they are turning people away left and right. I am sure they have DCA's rapped up and the season doesn't even start for 2 more months. Although awesome sounding, I find it boring. Sorry. Heard it before. I'll take Empire and Hawthorne all day over this in terms of an emotional reaction to the music. Unreal nonetheless.
Yes. And I saw their 1979 and 80 show. Their current "style" just doesn't do anything for me on a visceral level. I totally appreciate how tight they are and agree with their placement. They sound amazing. I have never been a big Syracuse Brigadier fan either and this current run Reading is on is very reminiscient.
yeah but another season is on the way!

I remember when this show was just hard to play standing still... to think the seasons been over for months is sooo hard!

their drumline's good but I hate how they don't even dut.
SUNSNARE06 4 years ago
I promise you they dut. But it is not like it matters because dutting is not what makes a good drumline. So why would it matter if they dut?
