I found some very interesting similarities btn Ethiopians and Tibetans. Tibetans drink tea which has butter and salt in it...and incidentally I think some Eithiopians 'sometimes' put butter and salt in their coffee. hehe...also Tibetans sometimes eat raw thin slices of meat, and I believe Ethiopians also do this sometimes. Btw frozen slices of raw Yak is very tasty.
I think one of the HUMONGOUS HUMONGOUS MAMMOTH HUGE DIFFERENCE between the two that you should have mentioned is that one of them in Christian ( Ethiopia) and the other one is Buddhist ( Tibet)
That is a sacred and PROFOUND difference.
I hope your baptism was not just for "access" and may God Bless you.
Thank you for doing this documentary about the little known but quite deep and beatiful Tewahdo Orthodox Christian religion.
My whole idea behind this documentary was to expose the monastic life of Ethiopian Orthodox Christian monks to the world, in which the predominant view or definition of a monastery is a Tibeten one. I wanted people to first see the similarities and then discover the faith behind it. The western version of Christianity has changed people's perception of it and I would like people to re associate Christianity with spiritualism, humility and love; which is what it is in these Ethiopian monasteries.
what is wrong with this guy ?? He said he is babtized and live among them, but all he can come up is the label'African Tibet'? What about just saying the name of the monastery he spent time in.
There are many important and rare documentaries about this ancient country,Ethiopia. Thanks to You Tube and the people who posted those. What little we KNEW about this wonderful country with so many places/incidents/people of historical value.[pls pardon my English.!]. Hope the coming documentary will be of good quality, my friend, digitelethiopia. Thanks.

i have lived in the capital city of Ethiopia and heard some but i did not have the chance to meet these monks.thank you and we are waiting to the rest of the documentary
I wrote a paper on Axum for college, it is a beautiful place, as is all of Ethiopia. The religious art there is breathtaking. The people have beautiful faces. I will pray that your documentary gets made, because Ethiopia deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. Good work!
Dear Solomon...It doesn´t really matter which colour the filmmaker has. It is not really important. The message of any spiritual belief that is worth paying attention, or followed is that we are all brothers and sister.
Think about that. Much of the hate, wars and misery that we have nowardays comes exactly from thoughts, and feeling like that you are having about our fellow producer. God bless you. PS: One race, on family
solomon, we don't care about his color, if he is batized in an orthodox church he is ours, we are one soul and we have no eyes that look at the color of the skin, by the way this guy is blessed than us, who have never been to the monasteries.
This is so true Ethio .. TRUTH has no color, no particular culture.. it exists WITHIN all.. for those who are blessed with the eyes to see. We may dress the Supreme Truth in different GARB.. but the Awakened ones are not fooled by the outer play of it all. Peace, Faith
Why does it take a white man to explain us our history our faith and our culture? It's a blessing that there are certain people but when are we going to do something?
why don't you stop complaining about what white people are doing and do something then? This man, according to him, spent a year out there living with these monks. Its easy to dismiss, hard to do something when push comes to shove.

I'm with you. I want to even take it a little even farther... Why are we to trust him. He allready starts placing Ethiopia in his reference window: Tibet.
He can't imagine peace, spirituality and wisdom to be native in Africa.

Huh, I never new this existed. From what I saw it looks like a combination of Christianity, Islam, and maybe even Judism except I know nothing of the jewish faith.
Hi altf4dustin. It is actually the oldest Christian denomination called Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido (the word means unity between divine and human nature). Till 35 AD(Acts 8 vs.26) the Ethiopians were however practising the jewish faith and alot of the customs remained (dress, diet etc..). It has no connection to Islam however.
@altf4dustin we are not muslims if anything islams borrowed heavily from us . i was just baptised into the Tewahedo orthodox Christian faith. ours is the oldest of the Christian tradition along with the Coptic (egyptian) Syrian, Armeinian Indian and Palistinian Orthodox churches.we are all the closest as far as the original church (traditionally speaking) is concerned our traditions are from 33ad on.
hope it goes all the way, and the full documentary is made for us to see. fascinating angle, approach and delivery. The secret wich is much of Africa deserves exploration and understanding. Respect.P+

Nothing in this cilp bares any relation to Tibet. Nothing!
Ethiopian christians believe in a god: they follow a monotheistic faith.
(Tibetan) Buddhist do not believe in a creating, all caring god: they are free from such childish superstition and are really liberated.
