  • JAH RASTAFARI SELASSIE I ! How deep & sweet is the voice of The Almighty...

  • I found some very interesting similarities btn Ethiopians and Tibetans. Tibetans drink tea which has butter and salt in it...and incidentally I think some Eithiopians 'sometimes' put butter and salt in their coffee. hehe...also Tibetans sometimes eat raw thin slices of meat, and I believe Ethiopians also do this sometimes. Btw frozen slices of raw Yak is very tasty.

  • Welcome Home to Orthodoxy "digitalethiopia"!!

  • Did the Tewahedo church always acknowledge Sunday as a day of worship? If not when was it introduced?

  • What is the musical instrument called?

  • we call it Begena, most used in the Orthodox Church.

  • Thanks it seems similar to King David's Harp.

  • @geeker4history begenna is the instrument

  • I hate how the make christ white man.But nice video

  • I think one of the HUMONGOUS HUMONGOUS MAMMOTH HUGE DIFFERENCE between the two that you should have mentioned is that one of them in Christian ( Ethiopia) and the other one is Buddhist ( Tibet)

That is a sacred and PROFOUND difference.

I hope your baptism was not just for "access" and may God Bless you.

Thank you for doing this documentary about the little known but quite deep and beatiful Tewahdo Orthodox Christian religion.

    God Bless your documentary.

  • My whole idea behind this documentary was to expose the monastic life of Ethiopian Orthodox Christian monks to the world, in which the predominant view or definition of a monastery is a Tibeten one. I wanted people to first see the similarities and then discover the faith behind it. The western version of Christianity has changed people's perception of it and I would like people to re associate Christianity with spiritualism, humility and love; which is what it is in these Ethiopian monasteries.

  • its been almost two years... Where's that documentary??

  • great vid from st marys eritrean orthdox church columbus ohio

  • what is wrong with this guy ?? He said he is babtized and live among them, but all he can come up is the label'African Tibet'? What about just saying the name of the monastery he spent time in.

  • the name of the Monastery was Hapte Mariam Gidam. Forgive me if I have offended you

  • Amiin!!

  • like children all of you---silly human beings always in disagreement--drop your egos

  • I wrote 'Moron' for another comment that was posted for this video and who was pretty arogant and racist and that I have just now realised has been erased from this comment board, so please ignore :-p

  • Moron! African Monks in Ethiopia are ALL christians!!! Ethiopians are one of the only peoples on east Africa who were able to defend their land and their beliefs from the arab invasions. Stop and think before you post comments like that

  • This is correct; if you had been, you would know this fact.

  • Sounds awesome. I would love to hear more of your story. How you ended up in Ethiopia with the monks and why you left.

  • Hallo Pascal,

    tolles Video! Gruß aus Heinsberg,Saskia

  • do you have more...

  • Dear Solomon...It doesn´t really matter which colour the filmmaker has. It is not really important. The message of any spiritual belief that is worth paying attention, or followed is that we are all brothers and sister.

Think about that. Much of the hate, wars and misery that we have nowardays comes exactly from thoughts, and feeling like that you are having about our fellow producer. God bless you. PS: One race, on family

  • that definetly true bro.

  • Yes, please, tell us where it is available, i would love to see it!

  • When does this come out? Is it finished yet? Where can I find more details? Give thanks.

  • solomon, we don't care about his color, if he is batized in an orthodox church he is ours, we are one soul and we have no eyes that look at the color of the skin, by the way this guy is blessed than us, who have never been to the monasteries.

  • This is so true Ethio .. TRUTH has no color, no particular culture.. it exists WITHIN all.. for those who are blessed with the eyes to see. We may dress the Supreme Truth in different GARB.. but the Awakened ones are not fooled by the outer play of it all. Peace, Faith

  • tibetans are mostly buddhist country. their beliefs are universal. they dont worship one god. they are not christians.

  • dude...this has nothing to do with anything. he doesnt mean tibet is christian. neh forget it..you're slow.

  • LOL, true. It's just better not to argue with some people.

  • thats no african tibet. tibet is tibet. africa is africa. ethiopia is ethiopia.

  • fantastic

  • Why does it take a white man to explain us our history our faith and our culture? It's a blessing that there are certain people but when are we going to do something?

  • why don't you stop complaining about what white people are doing and do something then? This man, according to him, spent a year out there living with these monks. Its easy to dismiss, hard to do something when push comes to shove.

  • It doesn´t really matter which colour the filmmaker has.

  • I try to look but it do not open. Can you tell me why

  • he is explaining it to us, solomon.

  • I'm with you. I want to even take it a little even farther... Why are we to trust him. He allready starts placing Ethiopia in his reference window: Tibet.

He can't imagine peace, spirituality and wisdom to be native in Africa.

1 thing... stop propagating we ain't doing anything. Leave that part to black, yellow and white negro bashers.

    JayJBee

"To so called brothers commenting on my man solomonrasta: You go and trust this German's reference window. I'll be us (me) trusting us (solomonrasta)"

  • dude why hate on someone that went to our own country and did a documantry that no one knows about. of course everyone thinks africa is all muslim or idol worshipers. but this guy went and lived with our fathers for a whole year and did this enlightning powerful story for all people. why are you hating on him. "what have you and me done for our country or our church."

  • Speak for your self. Idiot.

I see you have trouble stepping out of your (western media's / school's) reference window too.

    JayJBee

"I'm not every one. I guess you are..."

  • Why not react on what I had to say: 'Why are we to trust him. He allready starts placing Ethiopia in his reference window: Tibet.

He can't imagine peace, spirituality and wisdom to be native in Africa.'

Go watch DiscoveryChanel, NationalGeographics or UNICEF/RedCross/USAid commercials like your used too... You leave the impression that is where you get your reference from, for even they are responsable for general views of Africa.

    JayJBee

    "Born African"

  • One more thing... all this German is gonna tell us is what these black men told him.

    De-program yourself.

    JayJBee

"Trust yourself before you trust anybody."

  • wht a coo video man keep doing yo thing..

  • Huh, I never new this existed. From what I saw it looks like a combination of Christianity, Islam, and maybe even Judism except I know nothing of the jewish faith.

  • Hi altf4dustin. It is actually the oldest Christian denomination called Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido (the word means unity between divine and human nature). Till 35 AD(Acts 8 vs.26) the Ethiopians were however practising the jewish faith and alot of the customs remained (dress, diet etc..). It has no connection to Islam however.

  • What exactly makes you think that?

  • @altf4dustin we are not muslims if anything islams borrowed heavily from us . i was just baptised into the Tewahedo orthodox Christian faith. ours is the oldest of the Christian tradition along with the Coptic (egyptian) Syrian, Armeinian Indian and Palistinian Orthodox churches.we are all the closest as far as the original church (traditionally speaking) is concerned our traditions are from 33ad on.

  • Let us taste and examineour ways. Lamentations 3:40

God's help finish this blessed work and let the rest the world see the briht side.

  • I would truly enjoy seeing the finished documentary. I hope you share it with the world. My interest is certainly piqued.

  • hope it goes all the way, and the full documentary is made for us to see. fascinating angle, approach and delivery. The secret wich is much of Africa deserves exploration and understanding. Respect.P+
