I've always wanted to know how this process worked for the musicians involved. Is there a specific orchestra that records all of these movie scores? I know the LSO recorded the Harry Potter movies. As a musician, it would be so cool to be able to work so closely with living composers and original new scores :) How does one go about doing this? Just wondering :)
Oh what I would give to be able to sit in and watch one of JNH's recordings like this. James Newton Howard and M. Night make such a good team, brilliant films, superb music... doesn't get much better!
I'm sick of the people hating this movie. It was magical, and amazing. They're like the movie critic of the movie, always hating, always being narrow-minded. James Newton Howard deserved an Oscar.
@yonythemoony The fact that he didn't win the Oscar for this in 2006 was the beginning of my (now complete) distrust for the Oscars. Santaolalla had NOTHING on Howard that year.
ya but the music enhances the movie sooo much. like i remember watchin the prologue of the movie, with the little stick figures, and the music hit me so much that i made me feel the emotion of the plot and what the movie was trying to convey. try watchin the prologue again here on youtube :)
im glad ya said that i rememeber feeling the same way, thats why i like shyamalan alot, he has moments like that in his movies which i dont see in other movies. the bit that you are talking about in the prologue, i like it best when the narrator says 'but still they try, try and help man' and then the title comes up brilliant!
Quite honestly, I think that The Happening was one of Night's shining films; only if you think deep. Feel the irony of the film.
There is a toxic chemical being released by plants; trees, bushes, grass. Our main source of life, oxygen, is produced through these things. So it's ironic that the thing that would be giving us life, is taking it away. (:
you know i agree with what you said. and i think thats why alot of people did not like the film, because it was very interesting just like m nights films, but the acting was really bad even though i hae to say it and it sickens me coz im such a big m night fan, but the scenes where it needed emotion, like it did in signs and the village theose big emotion scenes, the happening had them but coz the acting was so so so bad it was really noticable how crap they were, i love the story alot tho too!
i know i was gutted with happening, you know i think it would have been fine with different actors i loved the story, another mystical suttle m night story, but the acting was really noticably bad. i was so mad.
Lady in the Water is by far one of my favorite scores of all time, and certainly one of James' best, if not, underrated scores. But yes, the end track, "The Great Eatlon" is just epic film music at its pinnacle.
I loved this. I like at the very end hearing the choir start singing along with the orchestra. That was beautiful. Whoever uploaded this, thank you so much for doing so.
I sat in the couch and watched the movie Lady in the water. Then dad came and should read the magazine. Yhen he looked at the tv and said: "That movie is very mystical, isn't it?"
and i said: "Yes, a bit. But very good."
And then 'The Great Eatlon' song came, and dad said: "oh my, that song is good."
x) okay...well, this comment is not very nessecary hehe. What I am trying to say is that Love the music James Newton Howard makes for Shyamalans movies. He makes the movies seem mystical...<3

@Xarkanian The movie is an amazing master piece... But you need to understand it first...Maybe then you can see the beauty in it.

As much as I love the inherent power of a rock band, nothing compares to the exponential power of an orchestra!

Lady in the Water may not have been the best movie but the music Howard created for it was a masterpiece.
