I've been on the fence over grabbing one of these little monsters but I do believe that your EXCEPTIONAL run-through here has made up my mind for me. Thanks for taking the time to do such an excellent demo for the rest of us; brilliant playing too.
Nice demo, I've had one of these for nearly four years now, and am constantly amazed by the variety of sounds it kicks out, and combing the onboard fx with that, the options are endless. FYI whoever is curious; It is loud enough for a rehearsal or gig-in a small room-It shrank when i took it to gig in medium sized hall though. I sometimes use it with a 4x12 too, which gives a bigger spread and more bottom end speaker grunt. Lovely piece of kit, PS Had the red knob Champ 12 too -this is better!!
Imas lep zvuk i odlicno sviras. Kada bi uporedio Roland JC-50 i Fender Super Champ XD , koji bi bio tvoj izbor? (realniji za svirke i "live") Hvala unapred i pozdrav iz Srbije
Roland JC 50 is more powerful and therefore better suited for live playing with a drummer, but the Champ has a tube power amp, and I (personally) like its sound better. But the two amps are very different.
And I thought that the answer will be similar to this, because I have the same "wavelength":)). I was thinking about the Super Chap amplifier, the 'tube', but I think the 15W is perhaps "a bit" for the gig with the band. Only if you use the "line out" or a microphone as he is .. Line Out? No speaker simul. (speak.emulated out)? Recordings and playing these Excellent! Thank you for them! :)
Hi, the amp has some great high gain sounds on its own (without pedals). Of course its 15 watts, so it cant keep up with loud drummer, but otherwise its really great for the price!
I love this amp..I took out the stock speaker, put in a Ragin Cagin, and I mic into a BOSE PA system and in sounds like a stack of Super Reverbs at a 10th of the weight.
is this amp loud enough to handle playing with a full band + horn section? and also how does it handle pedals? i have a Boss blues driver and a ps9 tube screamer.
Hi! Quality is also matter of taste, but I would say Yes, without the breakup of the clean channel (its simulated though, thats the idea of the presets, I guess :-))
I have the Vibro Champ, also a great bedroom amp. Your playing is exquisite! Always love to know the world is rocked by good guitar players everywhere.
Thank-you for this. There are lots of demos of the clean tones with strats but this is the best one showing the higher gain voices with an LP. This convinced me to get an SCXD. You should get a commission from Fender. Or at least a free t-shirt and amp cover or something.
Freaking Russians, man! Why are you guys so good at playing guitar! From Nikita Koshkin to Grisha Goryachev... You rock buddy. And that little amp is sweet but I think I'm gonna go with the Blues Jr. 'cause I don't care much for the voices. Thanks so much for the demo though!
The SCXD has a FET input which always goes through the digital modeling section, even the clean channel. (the preamp tube is for phase inverting and end tube level adjustment only)
It does sound quite nice though, as you can hear in this demo. It can lack some mids with certain cheaper guitars and when it distorts, the distortion amount is quite fixed and not so responsive to playing power. Those are the only minor flaws; it's an absolute fun amp for a good price.
Nice playing i have one these amps i play it through a 2x12 fender bandmaster cab an it sounds amazing clean or at high gain it is very loud 15watts an is easy enough for small venues the 2x12 cab gives it a bit more bass on the bottom end for some great rock tones ..
It's a 3-mode hybrid. First, for both channels, two TL072 transistors in series, incredibly clean solid state pre-amps, boost the signal up to be sent into the analog/digital converter, then into the digital processor chip which does all the functions: gain, volume, bass, treble, effects, and amp models. The signal then goes back through the d/a converter into solid state TL072 and a 4560 pre-amps, then into the 12AX7 to be split into the push-pull 6V6 power tubes. Vintage Modified for sure.
It's just too cheap not to get one. I prefer it over the VC and all the Vox'es and Bugeras. If you hook it up to a cabinet it opens up and then it just sounds so powerful.
dude you're frikin' amazing!!! like how the hell do you play that fast and get those crazy chopps? im an LP player too and love the way it sounds on this badboy, so i definetley gotta get this one. But please respond :) This made me smile the whole time. Thanks :)
@zzseba Definitely a difference between Super and Vibro. Larger speaker and 10 more watts. IMO definitely worth the extra $100, because the tone is better. However...I bought the Super and exchanged it for a Vibro because the Super was way too loud for my apartment. Vibro is perfect volume for apartment and still has great tone. Very happy with Vibro. Super has a clean channel but it sounds a lot like one of the "voices" - so no major loss. Get either! They're great little amps.
I like the Superchamp XD, I just wish Fender would put better speakers in thenm instaed of the shitty stock speakers, which always sound like the cone is ripped apart straight out of the box. Ruins an otherwise great amp!
wow i guess it is actually possible for this amp to sound good. my friend has it, but his sounds like shit. i guess it's just his settings or something
Hey, Yes its possible, but it depends on how loud the band is :-). I have played several small gigs with it and was quite happy with the sound and balance. But for loud metal drummer, I don't think it will be enough.Cheers!!!
@kakabulle243 no offense, but didn't you hear the thing? sounds amazing for vintage rock. One of the best demos on youtube. Thanks a lot. Amazing amp.
@pablosebastian30 yeah i know i just bought it a week ago its really a great amp i was a little conserned because it didnt cost that much but i couldnt be more pleased with this amp

@kleschtremania if it is a small cafe type room and your drummer is not loud yes...i have a video here on utube that shpws you how to get this little amp- very loud.... by using it to drive a bigger amp...in my case i drive my fender 60 wtt Concert with the line out of the super champ into the return on the back of the Concert..you get same tones only it uses the slaves amplifier section to make it as loud as the slave amp can go or need...
Hi, i haven't this amp and i want to know if it's possible to play with in a flat or if my neighbours will call the 911 ? Besides , do you hear bad noise when you use a headphone connected to this amp?
wow great playing, you should do some demos showing your hands! I am thinking about buying one of these for small gigs? Dont know if it would be loud enough?
I would definitely take the 70s one, but thats because I am a stomp-box player and the only thing I need is good clean channel. For somebody else the XD could be the better choice
@koliok- Hey you said you would take a pure clean tone with stompboxes over the models, but isn't channel one a pure clean tube channel, which you can put pedals in front of? Just wondering, thanks for any help.
Hi, channel one is definitely absolutely clean, but I am not sure if its tube based. The amp has only one 12ax7 tube, and I am not sure if its in the preamp, or belongs to the poweramp ( i think its phase inverter) . Anyway, the clean channel works very good with pedals
great tone! I expected it to do only clean and blues stuff but it got a great overdrive tone aswell! Is the amp totaly stock in this vid? And did you use any pedals?
Just, when you get it, try it with external cab and you will end up swapping the speaker, they are great amps , but the speaker is not so good (though totally usable). My is with Ragin Cajun inside :-)
I've been on the fence over grabbing one of these little monsters but I do believe that your EXCEPTIONAL run-through here has made up my mind for me. Thanks for taking the time to do such an excellent demo for the rest of us; brilliant playing too.

It does sound quite nice though, as you can hear in this demo. It can lack some mids with certain cheaper guitars and when it distorts, the distortion amount is quite fixed and not so responsive to playing power. Those are the only minor flaws; it's an absolute fun amp for a good price.

wow great playing, you should do some demos showing your hands! I am thinking about buying one of these for small gigs? Dont know if it would be loud enough?

Ugh your style of playing is so versatile!
Hows the blues on this amp with a Strat?

@mikesta99
Thanks :-)
Quite good( for such a small amp), at least for me :-)

Very nice playing and tone, can I ask what would be your preference?
A 70's silverface champ or this..?
Thanks

@philm0l
Hi and thanks a lot :-)
I would definitely take the 70s one, but thats because I am a stomp-box player and the only thing I need is good clean channel. For somebody else the XD could be the better choice

@koliok Thanks for the reply,
It's got to be a Silverface for me then as I have just spent a small fortune on pedals..! ;-)

@koliok- Hey you said you would take a pure clean tone with stompboxes over the models, but isn't channel one a pure clean tube channel, which you can put pedals in front of? Just wondering, thanks for any help.

@superlou1s
Hi, channel one is definitely absolutely clean, but I am not sure if its tube based. The amp has only one 12ax7 tube, and I am not sure if its in the preamp, or belongs to the poweramp ( i think its phase inverter) . Anyway, the clean channel works very good with pedals
koliok 1 year ago
@koliok- The fender website says it has three tubes, and channel 1 is all tube. 2 tubes in the power section and 1 in the preamp section.

great tone! I expected it to do only clean and blues stuff but it got a great overdrive tone aswell! Is the amp totaly stock in this vid? And did you use any pedals?

@FeralArtist Me too, think my search for an amp that I'm happy with could end with this

@EuropeFactor
Just, when you get it, try it with external cab and you will end up swapping the speaker, they are great amps , but the speaker is not so good (though totally usable). My is with Ragin Cajun inside :-)

@koliok Thanks, actually I'm thinking of trying the Celestion G10 Greenback in it, or the Vintage G10

What you you think about gigging with this little guy?
