  • Sounds like Spyro the dragon <3

  • Charlatans UK? Charlatans, the only one I know!!! :)

  • @firstimefilms - Probably one of the greatest comments on youtube ever ;)

  • I love this tune but they certainly lifted the riff from some 60s tune. Brings back 80s/HS memories.

  • class tune, but inspirals this is how it feels was

    THE madchester anthem.. moo!

  • Sounds like "Deep Purple" and their great 1968 hit "Hush". Same riff recycled.

  • This was the anthem for many of my roller rink romances

  • The Robbie Williams version has more views........WTF!

----->Further proof that quite a lot of people are idiots!

    THIS IS A CLASSIC!

  • @dccstone - isn't it a complement when someone covers a bands song?. It keeps a song going. You find one version on Youtube, then you check out the other. It's Mark Ronson featuring Robbie Williams. He's from the same area they are, probably they know each other. Rob refers to Madchester in one of his songs. A lot of people outside England wouldn't have heard of the Charlatons if it wasn't for Mark & Rob covering it.. The Charlatans were complementing Deep Purple - Hush.

  • @bonnb9 Yeah that's true, if hearing one thing can lead to hearing another, then that's always a good thing

Youtube is always educating me, and that's why i love it - and i didn't know about the Deep Purple song, so i'm going to look that up - cheers!

  • @dccstone

This sounds more like the riff in Peace Frog by the Doors which preceded that

  • for me the charlatans never got enough accolade or recognition . they were the best ever group to come out of the north west for me.

  • Swampy, I feel you can't have one without the other. Although "second coming" was a little sloppy, and anything after "up to our hips" was a let down.

  • long live the shoe gazers

  • @LIVIKIA this is more of a manchester indie song if you like shoe gaze dude check out the band my bloody valentine

  • reminds me of the stone roses

    amaing song. underrated

  • @SwampyQ2 I feel you can't have one without the other. Although "second coming" was a little sloppy, and anything after "up to our hips" was a let down.

  • got this playing full whack! fuck the neighbours!

  • I when I was a lad and just getting into music. There were loads of old rockers around saying stuff like "Music in my day was proper, stood the test of time" etc etc and "not like the crap your force fed nowadays, thats rubbish..." and here we are with those same kids that danced like nutters to tunes like this berrating a lad for finding his own hero's n tunes in his own young lifetime!!! I mean WTF... Theres been some banging bands out these last 5 years. Youv'e all just got set in your ways!!

  • awesome reminds me of love doves !!!!!!!!!!! and them lost days.

  • awesome reminds me of love doves !!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:45 Fuck!!! great bass solo!!!

  • Really?

  • yes, for those of us who were young in the early 90´s there will be no other music like the roses, charatans and many other bands in UK.

now we are not so young but anyway we keep listening to our old LP´s

  • good memories...

  • Arguably the Madchester scene's anthem, though Stone Roses "I Wanna Be Adored" and Inspiral Carpet's "Commercial Reign" are also contenders.

  • @captaineasychord1 ...wrote for luck, Oakenfold was THE madchester song of choice!

  • @coltsuperocean10. agree 100% brother, what a time for music, and to be young,

  • Sooo chill. Oh those days of carefree dancing and parying. It was a state of mind.

  • Classic baggy madchester tune......I love it to death...brings tears to my eyes at times. Shivers up my spine.

  • Bellissima

  • defo- top banana .. mcfc

  • i think most some of the music now in days is bad, you old people need to start saying so much negative stuff about now in days music, cause i bet a million dollars whb=en you were young the older people thought your music was junk to, i rally kike this song tho

  • @civicit, although "well-said" clearly does not apply here, I do think I get the gist of what you are saying: I, as one of the "old people" to which you refer, tip my hat to you. I applaud your efforts at finding good new music. Back in the late 80's/early 90's, that was a noble/wise pursuit. Nowadays? Not so much.

Please, point me to the good young bands out there today... (crickets chirping loudly)

    exactly. there aren't any.

    the prosecution rests!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 I really like Arctic Monkeys.

  • @KateMonster761, they're not too shabby, I must admit.

But I feel like their music is just a little to thin and frenetic for my tastes, I do not think they have staying power.

Their lyrics are just a little bit too cute, and they seem just a little bit too self-conscious for my tastes.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @KateMonster761 mee too,, the monkeys have there own thing going :)

  • @civicit

I'm another "old people". Yeah it's true when music came out back when I was younger people said it was "junk"...yet some of that music is still around 15-20-30+ years. Let's see how much of today's music stands the test of time. ;)

  • @civicit I too am an "old people" person (at 35) but I have to say that when the 90s were out my mates and me used to also respect bands like The Kinks, The Beatles, The Stones and The Doors. Okay, so some of our mums didnt get the bands of the 90s and thought it was junk, but we respected and knew great music. And these bands have lasted from the 60s, 70s (Led Zep) 80s (Smiths) and 90s.

  • @civicit PT 2 I dont get any kick out of saying that today's music won't last because it's rubbish as I'd love to hear something great made by today's bands. There just isn't anything. I mean Florence & The Machine? It's a poor man's Annie Lennox (surely a terrifying thought) murdering disco classics.

  • 20+ years ago and it still sounds fresh, sure better than a lot of ear canal crap kids are fed nowadays.

  • The bass at 2:46 !!! Absolutely gives an eargasm

  • The only decent song they did...

  • after hearing this, the charlatans are better than oasis

  • @jimmyzgames oh yes they are

  • @pierreerichexum ye and oasis used to be my favourite band

  • The singer looks like Mick Jagger when he was young....!

  • @zouraris4 lol thats what i thought, and mani from the stone roses

  • The first album was an absolute classic. Gold plated. It just don't get better than this. Sadly. But, we still have the first!

  • Great tune but what's with the bowl cuts?

  • Its a fact that what you listened to between 12-24 rings the most true. I love this band and all Baggy shite......intelligent lyrics and a great chorus. Sweet bass and guitar solo.

  • all time fav........but wee timmy burgess is shit live

  • what a tune!

    Ahhh, the 90's... :)

  • Best Tune ever. Period.

  • Cool music! :-)

  • Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingslieder!!!

  • This is the original video made in 90' or 91' i think, plus you can tell...

  • Great song,I have it on my ipod for the last five years.I especially love the intro of the song.

  • Loved the color. Depression cure. Baggy clothes are better. Hate tight. Just not into it. If it were the 60s, i'd wear a size up lol!

  • Like what I hear so far. What is the Manchester "sound "& what are some other bands to check out?.I developed some appreciation over the years for Northern Soul , Mersey ,Liverpool styles."Madchester" is just one more reason British bands have a fresher take on how to keep rock breathing.

  • you don't see haircuts like that anymore

  • This song used in an advert is big brother reaching the uninformed. Big Brother is not the government but Maddison Avenue.
