  • Frankly, I don't care if she's a snob. It doesn't make her any less brilliant as an author and literary stylist.

  • I suppose if youre watching this you're a Lorrie Moore fan but if by chance you're not let me just say you MUST read some Lorrie Moore as soon as possible! Seriously

  • Who else has Nick Hornby and David Sedaris as fans? An amazing author.

  • very interesting

  • I just got a degree in creative writing from The University of Wisconsin. She is the reason that I'm not going to grad school at UW-Madison.

Birds of America was a great, great book, but she would make me hate myself as a writer.

What a great. yet dower writer.

  • @damienmetalwind I've heard she's a snob; is that true?

  • @CobaltJewel I guess you could call her a snob. She's really just deeply deeply cynical--almost like she experiences very little joy in the world.

In her writing, the attitude is pretty comical, but in real life it's just cruel.

  • Male Lorrie Moore reader *raises hand*

  • @sprtrmp88keys

and I am another male reader of Lorrie Moore.

I still feel sexist, because her female characters are largely deeply flawed, and dependent on men.

As a man, it's less off-putting than reading about a woman who is more powerful than the men in her life.

    Is that wrong?

  • She has a voice like treacle !

My toes curl just listening to her

  • She is such a great reader of her own work.
