Wonderful performance by James..this man is a living legend. And the violinist Kate is talented beyond words, her appearance means nothing in regards to her skill. Choosing to attack this woman online is as cowardly as it gets, rather than be crude and foul I choose to enjoy this music, whatever happened to being civil..sad to see
The fiddle player, if it's Kate, or whomever she is, is a lovely and talented musician. The troll(s) on here picking on her for her weight are simply demonstrating to us that they never evolved emotionally beyond the 7th grade playground mentality. What are the chances he is 6'2", 170 lbs of muscle and six-pack abs, and is earning $150,000/yr as a respected professional? We all know otherwise. Anyways, this is a wonderful cover a John Anderson classic.
The violinist is Kate Markowitz????? Really????? I saw her sing live on James and Carol King's Troubadour tour in June 2010 and she looked GREAT (hot actually) as usual ...........so she lost like 200lbs in 18 months after this performance on Letterman????? I've never seen her overweight in any JT videos no matter when they were filmed. I also have never seen her play an instrument with James.....only sing backup with Arnold, David and Valerie.
What matters most is that she can play the violin and sing so perfectly well blended with the band and James Taylor. When I watched Richard Smith perform, his drummer was a midget playing with only a snare drum and the big drum, he was excellent. Did it matter if he was midget? A big NO! Did it matter if Kate is fat? Hell NO!!!
Kate Markowitz is SO lovely; the airy subtlety of her playing, and the haunting quality of her voice are such perfect compliments to JT! He can choose anyone to play with, and he has always put together the MOST remarkable backup group--David, Arnold, Kate and in the earlier days, the enchanting Valerie Carter, and of course Kunkel, Sklar and the irrepressible Korchmar. How many artists can keep a stable of that quality ever-ready to join him on tour?
The Violinist is Kate Markowitz who has toured with James for years. And to the Troll, @Steve Utah, "Yes; some people are Fat, but you are REALLY stupid, and they can diet..."
@depplelk and who cares at the end ofday, my god, i would love to play like that,! lets get our priorities right! this world is topsy turvey enough anyways!
@TheBug1961 Funny how we can call some one TALL or Skinny or short,, But we are not aloud to call some fat lazy pig FAT ,,Bit of a double standard don't you think,JERK
@at end of day we all pass away and whatever our body weight, some people are not shallow enough to think like that - o h dear i cant believe there are people who think like you... i am sorry to sound offensive but surely , weight, age, shape all changes as people get older, is that how shallow we as a human race have become? i am neither thin or fat but i hope i know that real life isnt about that, god, i hope so anyway as otherwise the human race are in a pickle!
@MrSteveUtah It is sad you cant understand that your bigotry and prejudice is far more ugly than any overweight women could ever be. True beauty is from the heart, and in her talented hands. You really need mental help.
See, now that's how it should be -- artists should make "cover" albums only after they've already written so many successful albums, like JT -- makes the song incredible. So many pretenders just leeching off others' success today. JT's a legend!
@the barry miles Ok now please go away, that is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard said about the legendary James Taylor ...WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you for posting this. i was too tired to stay up last night to watch this, but very much wanted to see it. love JT - such an american icon. and the new album of covers is lovely. thanks again.
You've got a friend... (B-p)
A great performance by James and all the ban members, if you can't enjoy the music without being childish then shame on you...

Looks like T. Bone Burrnett on bass guitar...James is truly a tresure! His version of 'Wichita Lineman" from "Cvers" is the very best version (IMHO)

Lemme tell you something, man. If James Taylor wears a hat, the hat becomes awesome by mere contact.
