they both have similarities in playing, but it seems that John incorporates a lot of blues and country skills into his style of rock and metal, where as Buckethead's style is like a massive melting of pretty much everything; a bit of ambient, bit of blues, bit of flamenco, shred obviously. Still, i wouldn't say they sound like each other though. Either way, they're both skilled guitarists, and their playing is amazing.
