It was actually proven in more then one episode that Ash's pikachu is a boy,like when a female Togepi used attract and affect Pikachu, Meowth, and other boy Pokemon. The only one who didn't get affected was Jessie's Yamnega whose a girl, so Pikachu's a boy.
