I live in a small 3 bedroom home that I can easily afford--on a fixed rate mortgage--that cost about half of what I was approved for had I gone w/ an ARM. I started working on the farm when I was 12 years old: slopping hogs, feeding livestock, and working in the cotton fields. I've worked everyday of my life since then, at least 50 hours a week. I live in a small 3 bedroom home that I can easily afford--on a fixed rate mortgage--that cost about half of what I was approved for had I gone w/ an ARM. I started working on the farm when I was 12 years old: slopping hogs, feeding livestock, and working in the cotton fields. I've worked everyday of my life since then, at least 50 hours a week. In the U.S., some cancer patients are dropped from coverage. In Canada, womand are denied papsmears. Look up the story of Linda O'Boyle, a cancer patient who was denied treatment in the UK health care system. She died in 2008. Check out this website - biggovhealth (dot) org. The fact is: things DO NOT get better w/ gov run healthcare.

Before Obama increases their taxes even more, the top 50% of income earners in this country already pay 97% of all taxes, and they want to increase their taxes even more? People don't understand how much those "rich people" contribute to the economy, create jobs, and generate economic activity. Higher taxes on the rich = less economic activity, which = fewer jobs, which = more poverty.

@MarxIsDead With regards to healthcare, many of the universities that develop and research medicine and medical technology are actually publicly funded anyway. What is not publicly funded entirely are the private operating doctors who are not by definition researchers or scientists in the laboratory or technological sense. Come to NY, see how horrible the doctors are here and as a sick person I've been to NYU and Colombia medical centers. The doctors are lazy, inept, and avaricious jews.

@XforeverlongingX, I don't consider healthcare subsidies for sick children whose parents cannot afford insurance to be collectivism, nor does it seem to be socialized healthcare. There are state programs through which government pays for poor children's treatment within the private healthcare system. This isn't really socialized medicine becasue the government doesn't own the means of production as in a true socialized healthcare model. I support these programs if there is a true need.
