While #18 sits in the Virginia City shops of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, it was purchased by the government commission doing the reconstruction project to Carson City. It was purchased several years ago, was leased to Sierra for operation in California, and was returned with various neglect and damage last year. VTRR rehabbed it and the commission leased it for the movie "water for elephants"
