From what I remember of being a kid, my mom only smacked me on the face. Like I never remember being spanked on the butt, I only remember getting smacked across the cheek and it would burn for like 30 seconds. It sucked every single time.

I used to get punched, kicked, or hit with a belt by almost every member in my family that was older than me. It made me feel defenseless. I started hating myself and then I started harming myself. I still harm myself today, it has been about five years since I started. They cause my to be afraid of being around people. I have thought about suicide many times.

If you have to resort to any sort of violence to get a kid to "learn a lesson" then I don't know if you're emotionally ready to be a parent. my mom used to hit me all the time but she finally stopped when something went wrong . i had to go to the hospital cause i couldnt move my hand and it hurt really bad . and than i found out some bones in my hand broke and that they couldnt heal on its own so i had to go into surgery to get them back in place and they put a metal thing in there to hold it together.. it happened when my mom was about to hit my face and i put my hand out to stop her and she hit my hand instead of my face.
When I was really little my dad use to kick my sister and I. My sister is about four years older than me so she would try to protect me and she would just get hurt worse. I remember one time she tried to call the cops and my dad got a stake knife and threaten to slit mine and her throat. We finally told my mom and she divorced him so now it's just me, my sister, and my mom.
I dont even raise my voice to my girls, generaly a child cant comprhend they are doing wrong. if people just held their kids hand and explained to them as equals they learn!! I only have to raise my voice and they listen. the day you beat your child is the day you loose control! that child will misbehave "until" it is smacked or beaten because words are nothing anymore.

You don't need to be hit to discipline your kids. My parents are very old fashioned Mexicans, and their form of making sure I was brought up right was through absolute FEAR! When I was 10 I did something bad. My dad started kicking me with his legs when I was lying down the floor. He told me to stand up, I grabbed the pipe near my table and hit him in the face. He was in hosptial. I told the police the truth and they let me go. Dad was condemned with child abuse and I am here standing. If your parents hit you so you get bleedings, scratches. Then you attack back. It's the way to go. It helps.

I can only remember being spanked 2 or 3 times throughout my childhood and to be totally honest I never repeated those actions. There are parents that do it too often or some children mat be more emotionally fragile than others. my mom used to hit me all the time but she finally stopped when something went wrong . i had to go to the hospital cause i couldnt move my hand and it hurt really bad . and than i found out some bones in my hand broke and that they couldnt heal on its own so i had to go into surgery to get them back in place and they put a metal thing in there to hold it together.. it happened when my mom was about to hit my face and i put my hand out to stop her and she hit my hand instead of my face.

I remember one time she tried to call the cops and my dad got a stake knife and threaten to slit mine and her throat. Some kids need to be hit. Hitting is really the last resort. Kids have so many priviledges today that you can usually punish them enough just by taking some of them away. In most cases, this will work along with scolding them, but if it doesn't, you must resort to hitting them or they will soon take over. I've never had to hit my kid, probably because I brought her up well.
There are plenty of cases of parents not raising their kids right on shows like Maury and Springer.

When I was 10 I did something bad. My dad started kicking me with his legs when I was lying down the floor. He told me to stand up, I grabbed the pipe near my table and hit him in the face. He was in hosptial. I told the police the truth and they let me go. Dad was condemned with child abuse and I am here standing. If your parents hit you so you get bleedings, scratches. Then you attack back. It's the way to go. It helps.

I can clearly remember that I only got really smacked 5 times when i was a kid, two of those times were when i ran away and the other three were pretty fair reasons. I went to school abroad for half a year, I guess it wasn't the best school 'cause I got slapped by teachers many times for things like talking during class, not great. I hate to say this, but I believe if my dad had lived longer than he did and was still here today he would be "disiplineing" me and my brother a lot. When we where around the age of 7 and 8 he died but before that he spanked my brother so hard he was black and blue. Thats not proper. I've been hit many times by my parents and I'm only 13. Sometimes I get bruises or scratches. One time, my lips started bleeding because my mom pinched it really hard because I got angry and talked back to her. Hitting your kids may seem like a great idea to scare them, but it will scar them emotionally too. Yes they won't disobey you for a while, but that's because they're scared of being hit again. They'll eventually lose respect on you and they might follow your footsteps when they get older.

I can only remember being spanked 2 or 3 times throughout my childhood and to be totally honest I never repeated those actions. There are parents that do it too often or some children mat be more emotionally fragile than others. It is true that there are other forms of punishment that work as well, but within the realms of reason a parent should have that right.

I guess it's okay to spank your kid just to discipline them. They will eventually thank you in the future for teaching you right and wrong.

To me, spanking is unnecessary.. I consider your butt to be a "private area"... and for a parent to slap it? that's kinda..... eh. weird, perhaps? for lack of better wording. I don't think there's really a good punishment for anything. Grounding only lasts for so long, taking things away doesn't either.. I guess it just depends how the child takes in the punishments that parents try to give. I'd rather just sit down with mine and talk about it. Normally talking is way better than hitting 'n stuf

My mom was raised in a strict Italian family.
If you do something mildly bad: You get a talking to.
If you do something bad bad, Your nose is up against the wall.
If you really fuck up, you better choose the fattest belt cuz it don't sting as much.
