Be careful of the bells that are inside those things. I once had a budgie who got his toe caught in one. Luckily, I managed to untrap him without him being hurt. The opening in the bell is just the right width that a budge claw can slip inside it.

Parakeets aren't automatically tame. You need to spend one-on-one time (about an hour each) daily to build up trust, then introduce the toys. Play with the toys yourself then the birds will become interested. It takes ALOT of time and patience before you can even begin to try and teach them a trick.

first of all.. its not easy to tame a budgie when u alredy have 4 of them, cause they will forget you and bond to eachother.. and will see you as a threat... so its best to have one budgie, or u can seperate them for a long while until you trained them... thats what i did and it worked fine.. and one more thing.. its alot more easier to train MALE budgies than females...and they are alot funnier than the females.. so yeah.. just follow my advice and hopefully you will tame them ! :)

Good advice given here. I had Pogo for about a year before I got Ziggy. Pogo was super tame by the time I got Ziggy, and when I got Ziggy I put him in a separate cage and tamed him before putting them together. Ziggy is also a male, and now I have two very tame male Budgies that are together. Pogo is still more tame, and plays a lot more than Ziggy ... but I think that's just Pogo's personality.

@snabb133 I just have to say that your assumption that female budgies are harder to train and to tame is very wrong. I have had several female budgies that were a lot tamer and smarter than my male ones! I had one female named Pip of whom I tamed completely in just a week or so, and I taught her numerous tricks like putting a little box of candy in a larger box, and to kick a ball into a little soccer goal I made myself. She was by far the most tame budgie I ever had!

Budgies Almost Always Start With The Finger, And The more you show him/her that you arent a threat to it, it will trust you a little bit more every week or so. Continue for like 3-4 months (Without Frighten It) And Believe Me You'll Be Succesful. :) one good advice is to Hand Feed it when it´s really hungry. It will Then Rush To Your Hand And Eat. You can get these cat ball toys at about any pet store. You can get a 4 pack for about $2. Make sure you get the ones that look the Budge can't get his foot caught in the ball's holes.

Pogo was about 10 months old when I made this video. He's now a little over 2 years old, and still loves to play with those cat toys. This is one reason it was easy to teach him this trick. I just showed him how to put it in the glass like you can see in the video. He got all excited to do it too, and would try it. Once I saw him try it, I just kept showing him how to put it in the glass, and he picked it up in about 30 minutes. Of course I'd give him praise when he did it successfully.

Pogo just throws them around by himself ... I never taught him that part. I guess he just likes to see them roll around and then he chases them around. I think he use to be a soccer player ... ;)

Pogo just seems to naturally love those toy balls - he's always throwing them around on the floor. I just showed him how to put the balls into the glass and he got all excited and wanted to do it too. My advice is to actively play with your Budgie and see what kind of toys he likes. Budgies love to play and make a game out of the playtime.
