WOA!!! he songs so beutifully!!!! i love boys choir, cuz before their voices deepen, they have incredible alto, even soprano voices. it brings tears to your eyes
Apparently is Bach - Mass in B-Minor. It is a universal [catholic in its etymological sense] beauty. This was the concert for the inauguration of the restored church of St Thomas, Leipzig, nearly 2000.
The church of St Thomas was the church of Bach. At his time it was still allowed to sing Latin texts (Magnificat, etc.) in solemnities. The links with the great tradition of the Church in the West were not yet cut like in our times.
Bach was not a Catholic, but he might have written parts of the mass for potential patrons who were Catholic. The mass was actually never performed in its entirety in Bach's day, it might not even have been intended to be performed as a whole.
Top notch performance by the Thomanerchor again! Be sure to mention that they're the oldest continuous performing boys choir in the world. Excellent camera work too. Bless you for posting them. The video syncs fine with the audio.
Nice find. Good sync job. Just crank your volume. BTW that is a very large space. The sync problem could havr been the positioning of the mike relative to the choir.
wonderful *****

The performance is on dvd. It was part of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of Bach's death. I was there!

As I was growing up my father had fond memories of being a member of a church choir,in Hong Kong during the 1950's.
I dedicate this piece to him,as a personal
tribute.
