Okay, I tried this today and I'm very impressed! I have very oily skin, I'm half way trough the day and don't even have to blot yet. Thanks for sharing for sharing this!!
Great tip! Can't wait to try it myself.. However, I have heard that Mac Fix+ isn't really a formulated "setting spray" (like UD or Skindinavia's) and rather a skin refresher with minerals (eg Evian)
Oh and I LOVE the way you do your makeup! Don't ever change your style! I hate when people have nothing better to do than give negative feedback/comments.
Thanks for the tip, Michele! I tried this out today and loved the results! I personally don't like translucent powder, so I used the MAC Sheer/Loose Powder and it worked great! :)
Plain old water (or something like Evian spray) does the same thing; though, I've always used it after powder, and no additional setting powder. It's definitely cheaper, and no chemicals involved. :)
you're eye makeup looks beautiful here. I like that you're having a break from the taupe/grey/brown colour on your lid and crease. I like the light pinkish colour on the lid and the cool brown in the crease. Looks amazing.
Great tip Michele!! I tried this out today, and it worked like a charm =D For the 1st time in a long time, I didn't have to touch up my makeup for the entire day! WOOT!
I don't actually have any setting spray, so I just used my Clinique moisture surge face spray and it worked just fine. The only thing I noticed was that I should have sprayed my face before applying mascara....
Fix+ is not a setting spray! I work for MAC and recently went to a master techniques class taught by a MAC Resident Trainer and he stressed to all the artists that it will not set your makeup... it's basically a hydrator or used to take away that powdery face look.
do you use fix+ before mascara but after eyeshadow? Or after your face makeup and before eye makeup? If I use it after I do my mascara I get total panda eyes! I have fix+ but I'm not really sure how to take full advantage of it!
Michele, I am 60 years old and I have to say I appreciate your videos! You are so easy to watch. You don't take yourself sooo serious either. This is a great tip. I get it! Best wishes, Cheryl
Thanks for the tip Michele! I always use fix+ and have also been a little bothered by the dewey finish this time of year so I will definitely be giving this a try, you look absolutely stunning by the way (as usual!) xo
I just wanna say that it's amazing how Michele takes time to answer to everyone's question. So, I just wanna thank you for being that nice and wish you all the best :)
Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like when I use a liquid or cream foundation, when I do set it with a kabuki or powder brush, i feel like the foundation is coming off. even with cream blushes, so I try to steer clear from them. Are there any tips/tricks to making it stay on when I place powder on top? Should I wait like 5 minutes or something? I usually put my makeup on in one sitting.
@marpee06 maybe try setting your foundation with the spray and than powder over it / blush etc. Also make sure you aren't using a lot of foundation...you may be using too much and thats why it isn't setting into your skin
@marpee06 Set it with a sponge. Big fluffy powder brushes are meant to brush away excess powder, not apply powder. Take powder onto a sponge and kind of press/roll it onto your skin and you won't be wiping it off. That's the way powder is truly meant to be set.
@marpee06 Try using a puff and pressing a small amount of powder onto your face. Swiping or brushing motions will move the foundation around and wipe the powder right off of your face instead of setting the makeup(which is what powder is used for). A puff will lock it into place and really push the powder into the skin. Then use a powder brush to knock off the excess. Hope it helps. I like velour puffs the best.
Hey Michele! So I don't use a powder to set my foundation, I use just translucent powder. So do I spray on the fix+ and use the powder again? I love the results. I always have a problem with my foundation lasting all day because I'm up at 5 and don't take my makeup off until 9 or 10 at night....I know... so bad... lol, but I can't help it! hehe. :)
Totally trying this tomorrow! I use fix + to wet my Sonja Kashuk sponge (doesn't work with the Beauty Blender at all though). I really think the finish looks so natural when I use Fix + over the Skindinavia sprays. Also, I'm filming a perfume video tomorrow. :)
So awesome, thanks Michele 'cause I just purchased a mini bottle of the fix plus and I had no idea at what step I should use it. So I was using it as the final step as a finishing spray but to let it dry and then put on my powder sounds good. I'll be trying this tomorrow!!
ok so this shud apply for setting foundation so that it dsnt transfer too? im having an issue w/that. I dnt like powder to set cuz it makes me look dry..n so when i like use a napkin it transfers alot or on the collar of my shirt n its annoyin...feels like im wearin a mask n im self conscious...yikes!
@charity0009 I think having foundation transfer on white is inevitable no matter what you do. This is moreso so the makeup doesn't fade or wear off your face
I have read the comments about your eyeshadow Michele. The first thing I noticed when your video started was something was different about you. Then I realized your eye shadow was different. My first impression was, you have the kind of look a person has when they have just awakened a bit ago and had very restful sleep. You have a very fresh, healthy, relaxed, well- rested look. Who wouldn't love that. I am going to try to do my eyeshadow like this. Thanks! Variety is a good thing.
The spray looks like it would be very refreshing too. These days thanks to you, I have become very aware of chemicals in products. So I am wondering how good it is to inhale the spray; especially in the small space you are in. I am so thankful to you; without your videos I would not know about products like Sibu and LaVanila. I am getting ready to order my first seabuckthorn oil.
Thank you for this! I occasionally use fix plus and bare minerals mineral veil is my HG setting powder but I've never thought to do this!! Will try tomorrow!!! You are awesome! :-)
@egollihue27 I had the same problem! I started using regular mascara and it didn't smudge. I love cover girl lash blast regular and it never smudges even in my oily skin.
@starbuck221 huh, I'll have to try that! Although it's odd because you would think a regular mascara would smudge not a waterproof haha thanks so much for the advice!
Love your videos, makeup, and all the time you put to answer us. Also love how down to earth you are. You ate going to look fab in your wedding! Hugs.:-D
Michele! I have a problem..not so much with making my foundation last but at the end of the day I always have black smudges under my eyes! I stopped wearing bottom eyeliner to hope to prevent it but it didn't work. I always wear waterproof mascara and wear under eye concealer and set it with a powder. HELP!
@egollihue27 I would change up the powder you use under your eye to something very light and translucent. Also be sure your undereye area is very hydrated
I definitely need to look into that setting powder. I need my makeup to last ALL day long with my job ( as most women do) lol. I agree with you about the elf powder... It gives of a white/gray cast. Thanks so much! Have a good one!
@luckyducky26 wow, the fact that this bothers you so much is just SAD. Its my makeup on my face....chill out girly! I happen to like it-you don't have to but I am certainly not going to do my makeup how you tell me to, LOL. I'm sure yours is perfectly blended....so why are you so worried about mine, haha
I'm so checking out that set powder! I really like the elf complexion perfection, so I can't wait to try the mac setting powered in invisible... I think that's what it's called! :P thank michele! beautiful and informative as always!
@luckyducky26 Nice try troll, cut crease is the use of dramatically differing color at the crease (whether artificial or natural) to create definition. There is no specified blending, and it's entirely up to the artist.
And I'd say that your "blend blend blend your eyeshadow please! ahhhh" is the definition of spazzing. Why repeat yourself without reason? Exclamation point and the "ahhhh" is pretty telling.
Are you a Beauty Guru with highly rated videos? I think not. Get over yourself.
@luckyducky26 . . . idiot. Notice the blending between the lower lid and the crease. The starkness of the cut crease is a great change from the over blended mud you see out there.
There is NO set way to do one's makeup, you spazzing about the blend bs really really annoys when makeup is about artistry and individuality.
Thank you for putting that wonderful tip out there. I love the way your skin looks and that really is sweet of you to share with us viewers. I definitely think you should do that for your wedding day your skin looks so good on camera, I am sure it will also photograph well. Thanks again.
@luckyducky26 Oh, I'm so sorry! I thought you were just being rude, but now I realize your infinite wisdom. Michele should apologize for making you sit and stare at her eye makeup for 6 minutes and you should be so glad that you've shown us all the error of her ways. Maybe you could make a video that shows us how beautifully you do YOUR cut crease! I'm so glad you've shown us the light, luckyduck! Now we can all find true peace and happiness.
I'll try this! I'm on a back to Mac mission, lol, to finish up products. I love the smell of original Fix+ and have a new one waiting but I'm making myself use up the rest of a Fix+ w Lavender. I don't like the smell as much but I'm vowing not to waste it.
OMG! I am doing the exact same trick with the fix + also but i use my hd powder instead and it works wonderfull! I have an extremely oly skin and this is keeping my face from looking too oily trough out the day, i love it!
im going to try this
thanks x

@luckyducky26 Meh, it's not on your face. I'm not sure why you need to comment on it. I think it looks cute, anyway.

Thanks for this tip def going to try it!

I think your blush is always beautiful. Not sure what anyone would be complaining about.

OMG! I am doing the exact same trick with the fix + also but i use my hd powder instead and it works wonderfull! I have an extremely oly skin and this is keeping my face from looking too oily trough out the day, i love it!
AlexFashionBeauty 4 weeks ago
Hey Michelle! If you have dry skin, would you still recommend setting your makeup with powder?
sjoshi1988 4 weeks ago
@sjoshi1988 it depends on the liquid foundation you use....as long as your skin isn't oily you may not need to set it!
