It's stupid they won't have the libertarians included in the debates. Everyone should get an equal shoot at expressing their views. If libertarians got heard more maybe people will adopt some of the ideas they have. Like abolishing the fed and ending the drug war and at least legalizing marijuana, if not all drugs. I hope are country moves more towards our founding fathers views of less government and a free market with maximum personal choice. Enough with this liberal fascism we are heading to.
Bob Barr is stealing votes, he is not a libertarian. He does believe in corporate power, but he doest want to legalize any drugs, also wants to fight wars which is impossible when trying to lower taxes. He was trying to steal votes from the democrats.
@1yearyounger Actually, he has come out against marijuana prohibition and the U.S. Iraq war, as well as the Patriot Act. He's an independent because he is no longer the brainwashed republican he once was.
@BucksStudent I hope so, or maybe he is just saying that as a political move. Either way i don't like him, I would prefer a democrat as a libertarian nominee because they tend to be more about civil liberties and less about business liberties, which im against.
@1yearyounger I don't like Democrats of Republicans - Bob was probably feeling guilty over the money Exxon pays him and the rest of our one party nation and decided to stop some greed.
I volunteered for the Libertarain Party in 08 here in PA and supported Barr full fledged...until I did some deeper research. I found that Barr is not, has not and will never be a Libertarian. I wasn't old enough to vote, but I retracted my support of Barr and supported Chuck Baldwin.
@UberNoob33- Agreed. Look at this guy's record. Most of it is voting straight Republican and later saying "Oops, I messed up". It's like he just changed parties for a new start. I'm a proud Libertarian and never really trusted this guy. We can put better candidates in there then Bob Barr.
@rmccay88 25 years ago..I was just like him. A very conservative neo-con Republican. Now...I am the most fervent Libertarian that you will ever meet and have been for 25 years!
I voted for Ron Paul in '88!
I have seen Barr apologize for his past votes on the Patriot Act, The Drug War, and Foreign Intervention...That is good enough for me.
I cannot ever recall a politician apologizing for any vote they have ever cast...ever!
There were better choices but he got the nod from the LP.
That's good that you changed though, 88 was the year I was born haha. I use to be a Neocon by accident, I didn't even know what the hell one was because I watched Fox all the time (Ouch, I know). Thankfully I wised up and saw through it after I discovered Paul. It took me a little bit of time to be a Libertarian because some of the positions at first (hell a lot even) are "outside the mainstream view" but when you study the history, you see they are on the money.
Whoops! Major flaw in his statement about less taxes means more money stays in the hands of share holders and also referring to those share holders as "average americans"!?????
Since WHEN is the average American a share holder? Anyone who cannot get past that ideology is out of touch with at least 60% of the country.
Anyone nowadays that can actually afford a family vacation, retirement savings AND investments on the side (even in the form of their 401k) has not begun to understand average peopl
Ron Paul would have been a much better candidate. Barr, in my opinion, has a damaging persona (the way he talks about issues makes him sound like too much of a politician, rather than someone who could actually establish a logical and rational-thinking government)
This was Bob Barr in 2008 and it is 2010 now. But it is interesting that he was for more off shore drilling at the time. I guess that is still how he feels today.
Point is Bob Barr is for the people of the country; fuck his and all other politcal parties. It's about the people, he gets it and so does everyone else who actually understands the U.S Constitution.
@kablooy1 I think that is worth saying, it was rather funny for everyone in England. Have you even seen the movie, if you don't think it's funny you either have no sense of humour, or you are too interested in politics to find it funny?

He's right about Libertarian being more of a mindset than a party. It stands alone from liberal/conservative, democratic/republican in that EVERY citizen of our country should be Libertarian! Unfortunately we are demonstrating, as a nation, that we are fully prepared to sacrifice our personal liberties for negligible gain of security. "Those who sacrifice their liberty for security deserve and will receive neither." -Ben Franklin.
Wait, did Barr just say we should go after people who WANT to do us harm overseas (3:03)? How is Barr any different? Why should we go around the world picking fights with people who don't like Americans? Isn't that what we're already doing? Bob Barr is not a Libertarian! Vote Chuck Baldwin, he is more in line with Ron Paul's ideas, and even campaigned with Ron Paul. CHUCK BALDWIN 08
We didn't pick a fight. Granted, we made a mistake in the way we carried things out. However, no one can disagree that 9/11 did prove that terroism had gotten to large and too complex to simply ignore. What we need to do know is at least finish what we started and then leave well alone until, like Bob stated, a serious threat to the U.S. is evident as well as our allies.
Did we ask these same questions in either WWI or WWII? No.
I don't want to see people die just as much as you. However, war was never said to be easy and not all enemies can be taken care of over night.
These men and women of the U.S. military put their life on the line and pledged to do so so you and I can have these discussions; they do it so that another terroist group can't dish out another big attack on the U.S.
Bob Barr is NOT a libertarian. He is a conservative, and worse, a closet NEOCONSERVATIVE. He is a FAKER, an opportunist who is USING the Libertarian Party and USING libertarians for his own personal gain and agenda: to advance a neoconservative agenda while PRETENDING to be "against" the neoconservatives, and to FIGHT libertarian principles while pretending to "support" them.
Notice his Russia stance. That is a George W. Bush/John McCain/Dick Cheney/NEOCONSERVATIVE view.
Barr doesn't about parties or causes, it's ALL about advancing himself, and he never would have advanced far in the Republican Party. So he's USING the Libertarian Party and libertarians as his vehicle to stardom. Kind of like a failed rock singer that switches over to country music and moves to Nashville with dreams of that big break.
Barr doesn't care about parties or causes, it's ALL about advancing himself, and he never would have advanced far in the Republican Party. So he's USING the Libertarian Party and libertarians as his vehicle to stardom. Ah I understand what you are saying. I really don't know to much about him I just saw on the news that he might be supported/approved by Ron Pual so I thought I would try and get some more info on him.
Barr endorsed Ron Paul when he was running for the Republican nomination, and even tried to encourage him to seek the Libertarian Party nomination which was all good then (Paul was a shoo-in for the Libertarian Party nomination had he wanted it).
But as of late Barr has started to distance himself from Paul and his supporters, mainly reaching out to mainstream conservatives, and even disrespected Ron Paul in public this past week. We are really beginning to DISLIKE this guy.
END CORPORATE CRIME! RENEW AMERICAN DEMOCRACY!! OPEN THE DEBATES!!!

WAKE UP! YOU CAN HELP STOP THE GLOBAL WAR, IMPOVERISHMENT, AND TORTURE OF HUMANITY!!
He is something of a Constitutionalist. Historically for the past century the people who run the media have ignored anyone who is for the literal interpretation of the Constitution and small government. Even the parts of the corporate media that are Democrat run will ignore a constitutionalist.
Hey! All people can be rich. It's a madness. Take money tax for coming back market... I want to have good services and good Government. I don't matter to me to be poor, market always asks more money.
Noooooo!!! Why can't we have somebody running for president who realizes the power to wage war isn't the President's? Is it THAT much to ask!? Everyone's catching on to the 'terrorist threat' not being that real, so they're giving the military ind. complex another fake enemy in Russia. Why are we so anxious to rekindle the cold war?
I'm voting for Barr to help the Libertarians get permanent ballot status....The Libertarians or the Constitution Party need a billionaire with open pockets to build them up...The notion that America is a democracy is a joke....
We all need to help get the word out to as many people that we know to encourage them to step out of the box and let them know that there is another choice !
In this day and age of tons of Information on so many things, there no longer is an excuse.
We Need to lead by example and vote 3rd Party and and if enough people realize this Truth, 1 vote at a time we can totally change the politics in America.
we just to help wake people up ! Bob Barr is an excellent candidate
I agree....I'm going to send him some bucks here in a while...if he turns the election to Obama, then maybe the GOP will finally wake up that they need to change...it's a hope anyway...
So when will the libertarian party be more than a corporate think tank/PR front?
I wanna see the american libertarians on public display where their evangelical recruiting style, circular reasoning, and straw-man ad hominem debate style can get the public scrutiny it deserves.
I've seen little of this guy and already I can say I'm not voting for him. When the question 'what should we do about Georgia?' came up and he didn't answer 'whatever Congress decides to do', I wrote him off. I'm writing in Ron Paul.
I grew to support Obama now after my hopes of Ron Paul died. Im still pissed at Paul for not running independant. He would of been locked then. Maybe Barr will elect him VP?? Anyway im very pissed YouTube only shows Obama and McCain on their election page. All of the candidates should be shown. This isnt communism its America and all voices should be heard equally.
Ron Paul rocks but he aint running is he...Bob Barr impresses the hell outta me , I wish Ron Paul was running, but Im glad Bob Barr is running cause someone needs to be there and he is the only one who is trying to make a "change"
I completely agree. The problem with Barr for me, is his voting record and his past projects. When he first got into politics he was very Neo-Con. Over time he slowly drifted to the libertarian front. I want a candidate with consistency, like Ron Paul. Ron Paul has such a solid libertarian voting record, I saved it into my porno folder so i can masturbate to it every night. That is how solid RP's record is.
hello, I wanted to say go Bob Barr. I also wanted to plug another video on you tube related to this kind of campaign. It is KY Campaign for Liberty members message to the RNC. Go do a search on Suggestions for the Republican Party 2008.
lol...same here. But he is speaking our language. that is my point. so in the end i might just have to vote for him.
It's really not a matter of should i vote for him cause i disagree with him.
It's more like should i vote for him even if i don't trust him.
But the purpose of voting for him or campaigning for him is the same as pushing to have ron paul noticed. To get the message heard. So after the rally i do see many people starting to support bob barr including myself.
But people support Obama because of his message, even though we know that what he says and what he does are two different things. If we support Barr just to "get the message out," aren't we just as bad?
I supported Ron Paul because he had integrity and never went along with the mainstream media's lies, but here's Bob Barr, going along with the whole Russia disinfo campaign. :-/
I'd rather write-in Ron Paul than elevate a liar to his level.
Stealing Paul's movement? Bull! Do you think that Paul is the only politician with a desire to shrink government? Paul's movement has been very closely aligned with the Libertarian movement. After all, Paul was the Libertarian presidential candidate in '88.
And another thing: as much as I like Paul, he's the one who decided not to go on after the primaries. If Barr is "trying to steal" Paul's movement (which I don't think he is), let him. Someone has to be the face of Liberty in '08.
No i don't think Paul is the first to want to shrink government. I think he is the first to stand his ground and never sway. Barr is half the man Paul is, and its clear that he is a bitch considering that he is "playing into the lie that Russia invaded Georgia," just like kevlarthehorribleone above says. That speaks volumes. The act of going to Barr is a bitch move, and they are going to let him on tv because he is way less effective than paul, aka not a threat to tyranny. Barr/Root is weak.
Barr is polling at 6% nationally. He's double digits in some states (11% in New Hampshire, 10% in Nevada). He's polling between 5-8% in a lot of other states. He's at 5% in my home state of Illinois. (Which is rather amazing considering all the corrupt Democrats running the show.)
The Republican Party of Pennsylvania is taking legal action to get his name off their ballot.
Not a threat? Face facts.
I'd rather see Paul leading the Libertarians, but that's not how things panned out.
Ask ur self WHy he left out of the debates, besides the close minded answer "he won't win"? .... If your like me you see RIGHT THROUGH the media and government working to put a little game show on u for u called politics. They have it set up so no matter the winner the parties involved NOT THE PEOPLE come out ahead. What do you think?
"An isolationist is a fool"? I disagree. Classic isolationists have stupid economic views, but definitely the best foreign policy. Old right isolationism was a glorious thing. Being anti-war these days is considered the same as being liberal.
I used to advocate isolationism; however, I've had to alter my view a bit over the years. Being non-interventionists would probably serve us better. The free market--which America would be exempt from if we were isolationists--is still a good thing. But I do say, we need to get the hell out of other countries military disputes.
Like I said, isolationists have stupid economic views. America has a state market, and will continue to have such a market for a long time. There's a growing anti-capitalist sentiment in the US. I would rather have peaceful republicans with foolish economic views than no peaceful republicans.
That's old news brotha......he has changed his view on that a while ago. He is indeed a Libertarian. Not an extremist like some of these loonies. Inform thyself before speaking.
This scumbag endorsed Newt.

CHUCK BALDWIN 08
voltoman 3 years ago
We didn't pick a fight. Granted, we made a mistake in the way we carried things out. However, no one can disagree that 9/11 did prove that terroism had gotten to large and too complex to simply ignore. What we need to do know is at least finish what we started and then leave well alone until, like Bob stated, a serious threat to the U.S. is evident as well as our allies.
maccadiodrums 3 years ago
How do we finish? How many more people have to die and how much more money do (or CAN)we spend?
hdyson78 3 years ago
Did we ask these same questions in either WWI or WWII? No.
I don't want to see people die just as much as you. However, war was never said to be easy and not all enemies can be taken care of over night.
These men and women of the U.S. military put their life on the line and pledged to do so so you and I can have these discussions; they do it so that another terroist group can't dish out another big attack on the U.S.
maccadiodrums 3 years ago
eh i was with you until you said we should fight wars.

THAT'S the TRUTH folks
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
It would make no since for him to be conservative. He will take a nice share of votes from Mccain and harm "his" own party.

He is something of a Constitutionalist. Historically for the past century the people who run the media have ignored anyone who is for the literal interpretation of the Constitution and small government. Even the parts of the corporate media that are Democrat run will ignore a constitutionalist.

BrianRabil 3 years ago 2
If only Ron Paul took the Libertarian candidacy. He'd have gotten a ton of votes, and gotten in the debates. Maybe upwards of 15, 20%.

Barr is playing into the lie that Russia invaded Georgia. I'm very disappointed.
kevlarthehorribleone 3 years ago 5
yes but he is speaking and saying almost everything we ron paul fans, libertarians, some if not most conservatives want to hear.Such as
The FED
Foreign Policy
Big Gov't
Spending
Education
Welfare
He is not the perfect candidate..And I still have not supported him but he should DEFINITELY be the top on Everyones list.
I don't understand why some people act like voting for barr is not voting on principle when he IS talking about everything we want to hear.
GiveItOrLoseIt 3 years ago 3
The problem is, I don't know if I believe him.
kevlarthehorribleone 3 years ago
lol...same here.
GiveItOrLoseIt 3 years ago 2
But people support Obama because of his message, even though we know that what he says and what he does are two different things. If we support Barr just to "get the message out," aren't we just as bad?
I supported Ron Paul because he had integrity and never went along with the mainstream media's lies, but here's Bob Barr, going along with the whole Russia disinfo campaign. :-/
I'd rather write-in Ron Paul than elevate a liar to his level.
kevlarthehorribleone 3 years ago
Plus, he's talking about interfering with the internal matters of other nations, which is something Ron Paul would never do.
I'll probably be writing-in Ron Paul on election day.

erwickline 3 years ago
Stealing Paul's movement? Bull! Do you think that Paul is the only politician with a desire to shrink government? Paul's movement has been very closely aligned with the Libertarian movement. After all, Paul was the Libertarian presidential candidate in '88.
And another thing: as much as I like Paul, he's the one who decided not to go on after the primaries. If Barr is "trying to steal" Paul's movement (which I don't think he is), let him. Someone has to be the face of Liberty in '08.
Barr/Root
Viva1776 3 years ago 3
No i don't think Paul is the first to want to shrink government. I think he is the first to stand his ground and never sway. Barr is half the man Paul is, and its clear that he is a bitch considering that he is "playing into the lie that Russia invaded Georgia," just like kevlarthehorribleone above says. That speaks volumes. The act of going to Barr is a bitch move, and they are going to let him on tv because he is way less effective than paul, aka not a threat to tyranny. Barr/Root is weak.
erwickline 3 years ago
Barr is polling at 6% nationally. He's double digits in some states (11% in New Hampshire, 10% in Nevada). He's polling between 5-8% in a lot of other states. He's at 5% in my home state of Illinois. (Which is rather amazing considering all the corrupt Democrats running the show.)
The Republican Party of Pennsylvania is taking legal action to get his name off their ballot.
Not a threat? Face facts.
I'd rather see Paul leading the Libertarians, but that's not how things panned out.

CAinfowarrior 3 years ago 3
"An isolationist is a fool"? I disagree. Classic isolationists have stupid economic views, but definitely the best foreign policy. Old right isolationism was a glorious thing. Being anti-war these days is considered the same as being liberal.
devourage 3 years ago
I used to advocate isolationism; however, I've had to alter my view a bit over the years. Being non-interventionists would probably serve us better. The free market--which America would be exempt from if we were isolationists--is still a good thing. But I do say, we need to get the hell out of other countries military disputes.
Viva1776 3 years ago
Like I said, isolationists have stupid economic views. America has a state market, and will continue to have such a market for a long time. There's a growing anti-capitalist sentiment in the US. I would rather have peaceful republicans with foolish economic views than no peaceful republicans.
