i once was at a camp we were all tired and doing nothing it was about 4 in the morning then someone put this shit we all fell asleep peacefully, i actually could enjoy almost of the whole song (from part1 to 3) 'til i fell asleep! i only slept for like 6 hours but i felt great in the morning. i never knew what being high was like but that night i felt really comfy, happy, calm and i totally had a trip, i was dreaming awake and then one of the best peaceful nights ever happened! LIFE IS GREAT

If this is all of part 1 then they shortchanged their fans by 4 mins from the original recording at Pompeii in October 10mins .30 with Meddle released in November 1971.only 1 month later. I watched an interview once where Waters said that each of their songs have one specific message and meaning, they are not open to interpretations. there is one correct interpretation and only one. If it helps remember that Syd Barrett who was one of the original members and lyrics writer had quit in '68 messed up from taking Heroine thus the group were experimenting on new ideas. Syd's influence remained strong hence many later tracks about him. Also in '71 people were listening to this whilst taking all sorts of drugs mostly pot. Check out "See Emily Play" "Bike" and "Arnold Layne" by Syd so different you might like these.

The first time I listened to "Echoes" back in 1971 I thought it was a masterpiece and after 40 years I still fell the same. Never has a piece of music filled me with so much joy, bewilderment, sorrow, love, wonderment and melancholy.

If this is all of part 1 then they shortchanged their fans by 4 mins from the original recording at Pompeii in October 10mins .30 with Meddle released in November 1971.only 1 month later. Why would they cut the great ending on this? nice video but checkout "live at pompeii" find one showing Pompeii not the Directors cut. I was going to buy Meddle but this puts me off thanks

I've listen to Floyd for awhile now but only within the last few years discovered Meddle and I feel like it's been a whole new experience.

If it helps remember that Syd Barrett who was one of the original members and lyrics writer had quit in '68 messed up from taking Heroine thus the group were experimenting on new ideas. Syd's influence remained strong hence many later tracks about him. Also in '71 people were listening to this whilst taking all sorts of drugs mostly pot. Check out "See Emily Play" "Bike" and "Arnold Layne" by Syd so different you might like these.
